My son and I spent the afternoon at the Pinball Gallery in Great Valley PA,  playing everything from Stern's latest Led Zep and Godzilla machines to a beautiful walnut 1932 flipperless pinball game,  where the ball is controlled by "english" alone.

Along the way we snagged these beauties.

First time running across a PS version, although I know the program has been rolling for a while.

Didn't go out this afternoon to purchase bourbon, but sometimes you just can't pass up a deal.  Went to Costco with the Mrs to return some items, and decided to walk through their liquor store.  Nothing I want on the shelves, but as I am heading out I spy two stacks of cases behind the register counter.  1 case was Buffalo Trace, and the other was Blantons.  After talking with the liquor manager, he said that an hour earlier they sold out of Eagle Rare.  The pricing OTD was $27.99 for BT, $29.99 for ER,  and $54.99 for Blantons.  I would have grabbed one ER and one Blantons had the ER not been sold out, so I decided to purchase a single Blantons.  Never see it around our areaat that price.  When I told my wife, she went and bought a 2nd one and told me I would regret not buying two.  No arguments from me.

Went out to buy some scotch that is going up in price this year; and found a few bourbons that came home too.

I grabbed three handles of the new 90p 1783 and two bottles of Blantons (that I won right to buy in our raffles).

I also ended up with a full case of the most recent Ezra Brooks CS PS selection.  Another incredible cask strength bourbon offering that is readily available and really, very good.

The standard Bulleit has always been on the periphery of my personal bourbon interest, but I pick it up on occasion when bored.   Or, I order it at a bar when nothing else catches my fancy.  I put one in the cart a couple days ago at the monger, and it is very, very, good.  It’s thick, and the taste profile is well rounded with no sharp edges all through the finish.
I am continuing to experience that bouncing around the mid to lower shelfs on the bourbon aisle can be very fulfilling.

I also picked up an Ezra Brooks CS PS at a little gem of a liquor store in Collinsville, IL yesterday afternoon (what's a boy gonna'do in a new small town before drinkin' some fine whiskey with great friends, eh?).   Managed to score a store pick of Rebel Yell CS as well - $48.99 ea.  Then these two (2) bottles of the new Dickel/Leopold Brothers Rye just started falling off the shelf and the next thing I knew, they were in the box with the other bottles.  $106.99 ea. But, uff da - IL sales taxes on hooch is almost (notice I said almost) as bad as Washington State!!!   Sales tax, sin tax, ANY tax on whisk(e)y is just sooooo UN-American, no?   🤬

We had one (1) of the Dickel/Leupold Brothers rye on the table last night (it was last nite, yes????) and I'm taking the other to Whiskey Wednesday at Pappy's Place tomorrow nite.  Then I going to quit drinking for about 6 years.   🙄

Is it still tasting like Four Roses or is there enough different distillate in the mix that it tastes like its own thing?

I can’t say definitively, unfortunately.  Those variables are seemingly infinite, and I just don’t have mental or written notes of prior tastings that I am confident enough in to make that kind of call.      But, it’s good!

Picked up a bottle of Pikesville Rye simply because I hadn't tried it before.  Tasting notes will follow at some point.

Picked up a BBC Fusion #5.  It’s good, though the younger BBC components threaten to overwhelm the 30% of 11 yr sourced whiskey.  But, skilled hands are obviously at work here, as the brakes were hit during blending just in time to create a nicely layered drink.  It works well.
I have a question regarding the labeling, that I just noticed while sipping it and going over the specs. The neck tag on the bottle indicates that all of the BBC components in the fusion series are 4 years old.  But, the label indicates a 3 year old whiskey in the mix.  Anyone have any info on this incongruity?

When I first glanced at this label, I thought it read POISON SERIES.

great point!   They are very transparent - maybe they will feedback if someone asks?

I find the transparency refreshing.

I'm not a huge AE fan, but I did buy a couple of those bottle picks, last summer, after trying it.   I was very impressed and would buy it again.    The LS, (in Palm Beach), claimed that they were the first store to have an AE pick.

So.....how did you like the Dickel/Leopold Collaboration?

I bought one a month, or two, ago and I really like it.

Moi aussi!

But @Clueby wasn't impressed much (that cretin!) .  I guess there's just no accounting for taste.  But there's some good news - he left more for me and @0895.   🤣

Took the other bottle to Pappy's Place last night.  4 of us "old farts" tried it and the bottle was half empty before we had to hide it as the rest of the crew started to arrive.  Never seen these guys take multiple tastes in a row before changing drinks.  Tried to order a couple of cases from our local purveyor, but was told it hasn't arrived in Massachusetts yet.  Yummo, again.   👏

There's been a shortage of KC 1.75Ls around here to my alarm, so I picked one up at a supermarket today, as well as a handle of JB Black on sale cheap. I hope it's a temporary glass shortage making the KC scarce... I'm down to like a dozen bottles😉

I have not purchased much this year, as my bottle storage space has became almost saturated and I need to empty a few of the opened ones to help make space.  But, when a store nearby let me know that the ER barrel pick I had helped them with late last year had arrived and asked how many bottles I wanted it was just too tempting to resist.  So, I picked up two for myself and 4 to give to family and friends  They even gave me the sample bottle back, which was pretty cool.  The OF BS Rye was offered as they said no one had asked for it since it came out last year and I could not say no to that little fellah.

After dinner I will open one of the ER and see just how the pick went.

Local distillery purchase from Jersey Spirits Distilling Co, about 2 miles from me.  It's very young stuff, the rye 18mo, the bourbon 1 yr.

Today’s haul.

I was excited to find the BBC Fusion #7, as I hadn’t seen it on the shelf before today. Considering how much I’ve been enjoying #6, I figured I’d give the new one a whirl.

I made a quick stop at the liquor store today just to take a look see. Nothing of real interest, but they still had a few of the OF 86 375’s left. 🫣 So I figured why not. A couple more to add to the pack. 🫶
