My wife and I were gifted this and we opened it last night.  It has a 4yr AS and says "distilled in Indiana" on the back so I assume it's MGP.  It's pretty good with typical bourbon notes of caramel and vanilla but drinks a bit hot for only 84 proof.  Does anyone here have any experience with this one?  It's named after a sports club in Palm Springs that used to be a hangout for Hollywood elite.  And that's the coolest label I've seen on a bottle in a long time...

Well today is my 40th birthday. I went out to dinner with my family at a Brazilian grill and had a good meal. Once I got back home I pondered a while about what bottle I wanted to open. A while back I had planned to open the 1942 Old Crow with my dad on my b-day but he passed away in September. He had the bottle for around 30yrs and gave it to me a couple of years ago. Unfortunately he stored it on its side in a drawer that whole time and a lot has either leaked out or evaporated over time. There is a bunch of floating debris in it now and I just didn't feel comfortable about drinking it. So I decided that a Blanton's SFTB was the next option. I opened the box to see that it was bottle "4" from this barrel and it only seemed fitting that since that is today's date that it was destined to be. It is a very delicious pour and worth of the occasion.

My first opened bottle of 2022 reaches back about three years,  my bunkered Distiller's Cut.    It was as I remembered it,  rich and flavorful and just swell with a turkey sandwich.

This was a bottle I wish I had stashed much more of in my bunker. All of them are long gone now.

Thankfully I was smart enough to pick up a few extras for the bunker when they were still available. I am not always good about doing that when the opportunity is there(i.e. passing up EHT SmB a few years ago when I could still find them on the shelf on occasion) It was a good value pour for sure. One of these days I will have to pull one out and open it up.

I think I've got one more.   This one lived up to the hype.   It was (still is!!) great whiskey and great value.  Before I kill it I'll need to do a comparo with Old Tub,  still on sale I believe for $16.95 at the Commonwealth's package division.

Speaking of Jim Beam, I went and unscrewed the screw-cap on this JB Single Barrel tonight.

I bought it last January and for whatever reason, it never got opened. Just buried in the back of the Jim Beam section of my stash. Anyway, I’d read a few good reviews on this the last couple of days and realized I’d never opened my bottle. Figured it was time to correct this.

I gotta tell ya, it’s good. I’m shocked this is 108 proof. It drinks much easier than that. Classic Beam profile and a good value too, like most JB branded products.

Thumbs up  from me tonight. I may have another pour or two before the night is over.

Happy Friday, folks!

OT remains a great value.  I get more youthful corn and peanut with the OT than the DC, but they both share a lot of that same NCF goodness.  I think the DC is probably a full 5 years old whereas I figure the OT might be closer to 4 yrs.  But who knows.

I have literally designated OT as my official baseball watching bourbon because of the peanutty flavor!

Just popped the top on an 07 HMK. Had to dig out my last case from the stash since I was a LOSER in SB FF to jvd99. I squirreled away a few 6 packs before Fred took it down. (That's OK Fred if it wasn't going to be you---someone else). At the time I got case pricing at $25 per, and I thought this was too good to be true and this time was right. I keep a few RR10yr cases around now for the same purpose. :) One on the way soon jvd99!
