Skinsfan1311
I guess it's cheap 100 proof whiskey night. That's OGD BiB in the glass.
Skinsfan1311
I strayed from the 100 proof pours, but I haven't strayed from the cheap whiskey theme tonight.....
Thomm
FR SiB with a follow up of FR SmBS tonight. I had planned on reaching for the OF 1920, but that bottle is in the basement at the moment, and I am lazy. A bit off the subject, I'm watching Modern Marvels: Tobacco. Fascinating stuff. Very thorough and informative. Kinda makes me wish I had a fat cigar to go with this bourbon.
LCWoody
Had a 1792 bourbon get together last night. I also threw in a SH14y, just to have an older Barton. The favorite of the night was the 1792 BnB, then one of the Full Proofs, 3rd SH14y.

Some folks actually thought that we have no basements down south because we are below sea-level, but the truth is that we are too lazy to go downstairs to get a new bottle of bourbon. Good call, my friend... 9 hours ago, LCWoody said: Had a 1792 bourbon get together last night. I also threw in a SH14y, just to have an older Barton. I now carry a dumbass card for not grabbing multiples... ********************************* Was dry all week so started a bit early... A couple pours of Bardstown Origin High Rye: This is really a grand pour for what it is... Now, a MM BRT-01. I'm not so sure that this wasn't my fav of last year; or whenever the hell I got it!!! Definetely my fav of this Friday... Edited May 12, 2023 by bayouredd
Skinsfan1311
My Enabler, aka, "Mrs. Skinsfan," requested a "drink of bourbon, and I don't mean the cheap stuff!" That request surprised me in a couple ways. First, she's a rye girl and, second, she rarely eschews the "cheap stuff." I reached for the KC9, but poured this instead. She deserves it.
Kepler
Just came in from working in the yard all afternoon. It's hot outside! I grabbed a cold brew for refreshment, but it's the time of the year to round up a freezer bottle!

Patrick_OKC
lot's of good traffic tonight. I am sipping on some Blanton's that I have not touched in a while. Funny story on this particular bottle. About 10 years ago, I was the CFO of a chain of behavioral health hospitals. One evening, my boss, the CEO, walked into my office and put this bottle on my desk. He told me that he bought it with his company credit card, and that he was testing the built-in limits that I had put in place, including the ability to prevent a card holder from using the card at a liquor store. Well, shit, how did that happen, I wondered. He left the bottle with me. Guess he thought he was making a point. ha, ha. Pat
Jazzhead
Tonight it's Tumbling Dice, 6 year single barrel. My favorite MGP mashbill done up just right. Nice summer evening out on the deck, listening to the Phils.

Rinse, repeat.

Anwalt
Been a bit quiet after social in KY...working to pay for it all & traveling. I tend not to drink very much when I travel. I like the quality & cost of my bottles, less so those in most other places. I did get to try WT12 for the first time - I liked it quite a lot. Also got an education at McCormack's Big Whiskey in Henrico, VA. The owner is amazing as a whiskey picker & educator. He had the best OF pick I have ever tried. And while I'm not normally much of a Scotch guy, the Glendronach 18 he had us try was amazing. Really neat guy with an amazing story. Back home for a few days. Tumbler for Bookers - sometimes one wants it neat, sometimes with a nice big ice cube. Still making my mind up which way Bookers is better.

Just not the Single Barrel version. I had two meh bottles and at a higher price that was enough. Man I miss the old school Baker's so much. It was always such a rich and complex pour for me. Like broo, I've had two very mediocre bottles at the new style and price so at this point I am out.

I opened one at Christmas and it did not last long. So, so good.
flahute
I absolutely love all the freezer bottle talk upthread. Today is our first day over 80 so I prepared last night by putting a bottle of OF86 in the freezer. Quite glorious in my glass right now.
mbroo5880i
We took my wife to Ruth Chris's for Mothers Day this evening. I thought my oldest son who is a doctor was paying so I ordered a HMck10 year double neat. They were out but offered up a private pick ECBP 8 year old 129 proof. He must have thought he was paying too. He asked me if I was f..king nuts. I asked why. He said $129 for two ounces of bourbon. I told him no, that is the proof. He laughed and then repeated "are you f..king nuts? " The double pour was more than generous even for a double. It was very very good. I would put it in the top 10% of ECBPs I have had. After we ate, I hit the restroom and when I came back, I saw my youngest son paying the bill. He wanted to but it was out of his price range so I told him I would pay him back. I am not sure how much "I paid" for the ECBP PS double pour. I do know what I ended up paying for dinner. I am a Cheap Bastard but not when it comes to experiences and spending time with my family. Home now and enjoying a couple of pours of Chattanooga Rye. It is a nice chocolatey malted milk ball dessert.
