What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2023

After my volunteer shift working outdoors and getting pretty worn out, I poured a generous WT101 into a large rox glass, and unlike my usual preferences for imbibing, I added a good deal of partially crushed ice.    Hit the spot! Loved it!

Watching ladies semis at Roland Garros. Started with a Woodford DO,then a  EC SiB. Don't know where I am going after that. Maybe a WTRB?  Cheers....

My wife took the day off.  We are enjoying a beautiful afternoon on the deck with some KC9 sours.

I bought this today. A solid offering from some folks in western Missouri.

Some of these craft distilleries are hitting their stride.

Our bourbon and cigar group got together at my American Legion Post this evening. All remaining members were present including a “new” guy. Turns out the new guy had ties to two others in our group, and has perused the archives of SB on occasion and knew me from some of my posts. Small world. Jefferson’s, Green River Wheated, BT and Ten High Straight Bourbon were enjoyed by all. Nice weather, great company, wonderful evening. 🙂 ”Don’t git no better’n that Vern.” 😉

Looking good friend!  Of course he knows of you.  The Weller Whore is legendary.  😮😉😀

Nothing like pours and smiles to know a good time was had.

Cool!  So, same rickhouse  but different floors.  I am an expert at drinking not distilling or aging.  Is this movement of a barrel within a rickhouse common?

Is this Ben Holladay bourbon?

I took the afternoon off.  Still was a moron as more work was dumped on me this afternoon.  I can't outdrink my work load. Ay caramba!  They shall be joined as one.  But, only when working at home after the official clock times out.

Took my wife to her witch doctor, bought a shed, bought a pizza, she bought some shoes.  I drank some bourbon.

Choice tonight was Legent.  Killed a bottle.  No, I hadn't just opened it.  I needed cheap because I bought a shed, pizza and she bought shoes.  😀

Calling the week over.  I got my ass in the Adirondack chair, and Maker’s 46 Cask strength in my insulated tumbler over a big clear cube.  I’m so friggin’ worn out, I don’t even think I can make it to the Braves game tonight.  Which really pisses me off.  Perhaps, a second wind is coming.  But, I’ve used my 2nd through 17th winds already this week just to make it to Now…

My Honey left to see Grandkids last week & I Honey Dooed my a$$ off the whole time she was gone, not to mention regular work week; he!! in itself. Tried to continue this weekend, but didn't have the oomph. Farted off all of today waiting for bourbon o'clock to set in...

1stly dipped into my decanter which I can't even remember what it is; but kind of infinitied it , because... It's good just the same.

2nd - MM Freezer Goodness

Now - upped it to LS RR SiB

Peace of mind to be had...

Opened the ER10 I picked up recently…it’s been a good 3 years since I’ve had a bottle and it’s as good as ever, fits in with the diet and brings back memories as my “ah ha” gateway pour

One of the busiest and craziest weeks at work in a long time. Stressful and a lot of overtime, but it feels good to be asked to help resolve issues on multiple fronts outside my normal sand box.

I opted for a single double pour of Rock Town Cask Strength Arkansas Straight Bourbon.  you can taste the youth but this stuff kicks ass. Literally and Figuratively.

Plus it was a gifted bottle. Good whiskey and free are double win for Cheap Bastard.

Dare, I have a wee follow-up pour to completely put the work week behind me?

The proof is high enough that my head is sweating. 😜

Guilty pleasure.  Watching Mama Mia. Here hold my man card. 😮

Sticking with 100 proof whiskey this evening. That's KC9 in the glass.

Those gateway bottles are like our first kiss. You never forget.
For me, it is EWSiB. What a great whiskey back then. Sadly it faded, now it is almost gone.  😞

Cheers

Watching The 24 Hours of Le Mans today and tonight. Always a fascinating race.
I’ve been all over the map tonight. Enjoyed pours from MMCS to ECBP to HWDR PS to OF1920. Who knows what is next. But I guarantee, it will be fun.
Enjoy your weekend.

Cheers

Played outside of my sandbox tonight.  Started with 14 year old Heaven's Door, followed by Still Austin, then Rock Town.  Technically, travelled to Tennessee, Texas and then Arkansas.  All Cask Strength.  Some Old, Some Young.  All good!  There is good whiskey outside of Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee.
