Just one caution on the stand that holds the Blanton's bottle. It does not hold a full size bottle, and I have not been able to find the smaller version. You also will be sent a complete set of the corks.

Wish I had known that before I searched all over for them!

Started with a Crown Reserve & 7. Next up was AH Hirsch 16. Finished with a Thomas H Handy Manahattan...

I started with a Cocktail a la Louisiane (wiping out my bottle of Bénédictine in the process), and then tried a Beachcomber using Appleton White Rum, with Cointreau and a bit of maraschino in addition to the lime juice. This tasted like lightly sugared non-alcoholic limeade... it ought to be a dynamite summer drink.

Now, a pour of ER 101. I might have some Louisville VSOF later...

Been drinking Gin at a friends house, just got home and settled in with a quick pour of Weller Special Reserve before bed....

Man I get this for $13 out the door, can you beat that??? I blow that much on a crappy cafe lunch...

Tonight was a Manhattan made with Pikesville Rye 4:1 with Noilly Prat Vermouth, dash of angostura bitters and a cherry. Sublime. Followed by a couple pours of Sazerac 2006. Life is good.

Last night I had a pour of Eagle Rare SB. Funny - when I first tried it, I loved it. Now it seems a little sweet for my palate. Wondering if the SB variation is the culprit, or my changing palate...

Two pours of Old Weller (BT version). Tonight, this seems to really be hitting the spot. Last night was rye-heavy, so maybe it's just the change of pace. This bottle's nearing empty. Fortunately, four S-W cousins are waiting in the wings.

WT Rye Manhattans tonight, 4:1 with M&R Vermouth, no bitters and a cherry, plus a dash of cherry juice. What a nice drink!

After some Fighting Cock, I poured some '06 Larue Weller, phenomenol! If BT can make wheated bourbon like this for years to come I just might not miss the S-W quite as bad. The only negative I can with the WLW is the excessive sweetness.

Pardon my ignance'... but hasn't it been revealed that the 2006 WLW is, in fact, S-W Whisky?

I'm fairly certain I read here that it was confirmed (by one of our members) with Chris Comstock?

That's the only reason I bunkered the six bottles I have - if it's not, then I wasted my time and resources and have five bottles available for trade...

ND Old Crow w/ginger ale.

This is following a pint of homebrewed stout.

Next up, if anything, will be my first pour of a dusty bottle of Tom Moore BIB from the mid-80s.

Tonight it's a WT 8YO 101 in my Reidel Bourbon glass.

I got bought a bottle of Jack Daniel's the other day by a well meaning friend and it's been a good while since I've had some.

I may crack that bottle a little later and see if I can detect any bananas...

Yellowstone 7yr 91 proof, bottle date '78. This is my first taste of Yellowstone of any kind, and it's mighty fine. Picked up a few 200 mLs today, along with a few 86 proof, 4 yr olds as well.

I began with a Red Hook made with Michter's Rye, and now I'm sipping a martini (Plymouth Gin/M&R white vermouth/splash of maraschino/Regan's orange bitters/cherry).

Later posting....last night was a toss up between Pappy 15 (wonderful) and Lot B (also wonderful). I didn't want to deplete my brothers PVW15 any more than I had so I opted for the Lot B which is an incredible bourbon for the price (and more readily available than the PVW15).

I have opened my last bottle, (KY roadtrip soon?), of Old Charter 12 Year Old.

Yes it is "The Classic 90".

Enjoying a 4-finger  pour of 'Lot B' in a Riedel Bourbon glass after a very, very long day.

Having a bit of Saz Jr. This bottle's almost gone, but there's plenty around here...looks like a trip to the store tomorrow, as I don't think that final pour in the bottle's going to make it until morning.

I'm "slumming it" tonight. Started with OF100 and then JB Rye, which is very light with a strong banana in the nose and taste, with little or no finish. I think it safe to say that the JB is at the other end of the spectrum from VWFRR as far as straight ryes go!

Templeton Rye. It's light but enjoyable. I might try making an Old Fashioned with it later. In all honesty though I doubt I'll buy another bottle when this one is gone.

Saz Jr, I can really taste the well documented BT mustiness that in this iteration fits so well. This is my very first bottle and lucky for me I can find it in these parts.

My first pour of Blanton's; neat in a Riedel bourbon glass. Absolutely wonderful.

I have been eyeing it for a while and today I gave in.

I opened my Vintage Bourbon 17 year old.

I posted a while ago about The Classic Cask 13yo, saying it was one of the best by KBD.

I still think so, but this 17yo version of Vintage is close, but you can detect a little dry wood, that is compared to Classic Cask.

CC is sweeter, a plus for me. But Vintage has a depthness that I like.

The following is an "edit", about 45 minutes later.

I picked up a tip here from this forum, pour some and let it sit for a while and then come back to it.

I did this with the VB17, I am now picking up sweet orange peel, I think I got a winner on my hands.

I saw from the Templeton website, http://www.templetonrye.com/home.shtml

it's only sold in Iowa. So no loss? I really seem to be developing a penchant for straight rye (and higher rye content, i.e. WT) bourbons, but the JB Rye was rather pedestrian. VWFRR is great, as is WT Rye. I've not tried Old Overholt yet.
