CrispyCritter
With the new year, it's time for a new thread... anyway, now that I've worked through my collection of long-open bottles, it's time to revisit my BTAC. Tonight, first a pour of ER17, then one of Handy. Mmmmmmmm...
Edward_call_me_Ed
In just a short while I am going to have a pour of I.W. Harper 12 yo. I wrote earlier that this was dry and peppery on my tongue. I think now that my pour tongue had been abused during the holidays. We will see! Then I will retire my Baby Saz. Good thing I have a bottle an a fraction of the Hardy to console myself with!Ed
barturtle
This evening was a wonderful bourbon night...I had WLW '06, Four Roses Small batch and (okay this wasn't so good) WRFG Batch 1. The first two I got at Bourbon's Bistro, the third was from a friends father (the only bourbon in the house). I think now I shall pour myself some Old Charter BIB as a good way to finish the night. BobA
Last night was WT RR 101. I've been avoiding it, but realized with two more bottles in the bunker, everything else that's in there, and my rate of consumption, there's a real possibility that people might end up drinking it to my memory. No point in that.Bob
ggilbertva
Last night was Wathens SB. I don't know what it is about that whiskey but it's really fine. Anyone else pleased with this SB?

SBOmarc
Looking straight at the complete '06 BTAC. All pristeen and unopened. Sticking with the WTRB for now, Kentucky Spirit was always my Fav of the WT line, but this pour has me reconsidering. The collection is safe for another night. CrispyCritter
I'm starting out with '06 Saz 18. Larue and GTS are on-deck...
full_proof
Old Forrester 100 Proof (my first bottle). It's not as good as the OF Birthday (September, 2006), but nonetheless a pleasant dram as I like the tannins, wood and smoke flavors. They somewhat dominate the caramel, vanilla and sweet tones, which are barely discernable to me. Sampled some Black Bush (Irish) yesterday and I'm trying to decide to whom I should give the remaining, almost-full bottle to and yet remain on speaking terms with them--or, better yet, give it to someone who has really pissed me off. If you were in the Chicago area, I'd be quite happy to take it off your hands. After I finished my pour of Saz 18, I went to the Larue... Hazmat III is waiting in the wings. wskybnt
Elmer T. Lee, been a while since I had this one. I really like it. A little sweet, compared to what I normally pour, but all in all I really enjoy this.....

JDutton
A couple of Manhattans made with EC18. Later, a pour of ORVW 10/90, capped off with some Eagle Rare. I'm staying up a while to let it wear off  .
Old Lamplighter
Began the 3-stage evening with Ezra B 15yo followed by Rittenhouse BIB (anybody know the age of?) and finishing with WT-03RB......still the best in the current WT family of U.S. offerings IMHO. You better send it to me along with all the other Irish and Scotch bottles you have. Crispy and me will make sure it gets a proper send off. I finally opened a WT 12 split label (thanks Dawn & Jeremey) This is some outstanding stuff. I spent the night between this and the WT 12 export only. They both deserve respect but the Split Label takes the prize for BEST IN SHOW. Now I need to bunker a Gold Label WT 12 so I can go with the three. FYI I have a couple of WT 12 Exports for trade. If anyone is interested PM me.
full_proof
Well, I like Redbreast and Jameson (I did not buy, but should have, the 12-yr-old). I've also enjoyed Glenfiddich and The Dalmore (I did not buy, but should have, the Cigar Malt). Admittedly, I'm still learning (thoroughly enjoyed Charles Cowdery's book, Bourbon, Straight). Perhaps my palate was tainted the night I tried Black Bush. It might be that I'm truly developing a preference for Bourbon, which is not to say I will not try (and enjoy) the other types of whiskeys. I think one writer on SB.com suggested fininshing a bottle before forming an opinion about a dram. Another suggestion I read was to dole marginal drams out to the in-laws or pain-in-the-(|) guests. SB.com is just chock full of great advice!

JeffRenner
After two preprandial manhattans made with Vya sweet vermouth that I picked up in LA while visiting our new granddaughter :woohoo: , one made with a mix of Fleishmann's and WT ryes, the other with a mix of Saz Jr and WT rye, I'm savoring a postpranidal second to last pour of the 142.7 proof George T. Stagg, the original (I think) hazmat.Wow! is all I can say.And considering that I water my whiskey down (I know - heresy) to around 70 proof for drinking as a rule, this one is really a value. I bought it down it Lexington a few years ago and have nursed it along. I'll be sorry to see it become a dead soldier. What depth! And finesse, despite the strength. The old iron fist in a velvet glove.I'm going to sit in front of the fire and savor this one.Cheers from Ann Arbor, where the temperature has finally begun to drop into a seasonal range where one can enjoy a bourbon like this.Jeff
