Small pour of Old Forester BIB from the 70's. Going light tonight since I indulged in too much Wild Turkey yesterday.

My first ever bottle of Buffalo Trace gave her last drops Saturday for a few mint juleps and a delicious Derby Pie. I may be a Texan, but even I think that derby day should be a national holiday.

BTW- thank you Kentucky for taking the humble (yet delicous) pecan pie and elevating her to full glory with the additions of bourbon and chocolate.

Blanton's, of course. You can go on about its price tag, but, for my money, it nails that mature, refined, mildly-spicy character that I crave!

finishing off a generous pour of Pappy 20 before switching over to make a few 'ritas tonight, in honor of Cinco de Mayo. :) (my usual May 5 lineup of one with Patron Anejo, then an 1800 Reposado, finishing off with Sauza Tres Generaciones.)

Still working on that bottle of Knob Creek. Joe

For Cinco de Mayo, some Patron Silver on the rocks with a nice squeeze of lime. I'm not into sweet margaritas and this hits the spot.

Bangkok....I don't envy you Rob. I did my share of overseas travel for about 10 years and finally had enough. I had just returned from Phnom Pehn (a very long 3 weeks for sure) and my boss wanted me to turn around and go to Riyadh. I looked it him in the eye and told him "no". Shortly after that I changed jobs, got my kids into little league and settled down.

Kid grown, wife gone, travel is not a bad option for me right now. Fortunately I like exotic foods, and the company allows me to travel at a premium level. Just spent three days each in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, ate some good food, met some interesting people, did some bidness. Two "30 hour days" on each end going and coming, certainly long but it could be worse, Singapore Airlines business class is not bad duty.

Hey Rob.....I'm glad to report our "watering hole" in Vegas still has some Hirsch Blue Wax at the bar. I made a small dent in it with a friend who is one of the "Blue Men" group at the Venetian.

Rob, I'm only 2-and-a-bit years from my earliest early-retirement date, and I understand those 30-hour days from my 25 years in the news business. You don't have need for an 'executive assistant', do you:cool:? I'm young enough to learn new tricks, and old enough to understand their worth.

A nice pour of Weller 12 with one eye on the Cavs/Celts game and the other eye on my work laptop. Techie geek stuff pays well but lately my time away from work has not been my own (and it's getting worse).

Yes...I actually went with Penny to a Derby Party with lots of good food, but no alcohol ( it was with our class from Church)

But really, it was a self-imposed break from bourbon because there were so many new and different tastes in one day at the Sampler and Gazebo (especially The Gazebo) that I felt that I needed a little perspective..so I took a break!

You're a better man than I Joe! Glad to see you started back up with a nice ORVW 10/107. I have a bottle open as well!

Cheers!
