I've just opened my GTS '07 and am enjoying a pour diluted with .5 oz of water. I had a taste of this neat at Fricky's in PA, so I knew going in that this is one I won't be drinking without a spash of water.

Jen: Do I hear the baby crying?

Scott: She probably needs changing. I'll take care of it.

Jen: She's still crying. I'll go check.

(a minute elapses...)

Jen: Scott! You put the Pampers on inside out!

PMSL!

No Scott, nothing like that happened!

After cleaning/sanitizing, drying, and filling Grolsch (at worst my second favorite beer) swing top bottles (mostly anyway, we also used a Grolsch swing top magnum bottle, a growler, a few 12oz glass Heineken bottles, and 1 12oz metal Heineken bottle (to see if it would taste any different from the glass bottles after priming) and that was just for my half of the brew!) with the brew my friend and I made I could think of nothing better to wash down the clams (littleneck and steamer, steamed) with since ours is not ready to drink. I'm sure it won't taste the same but I hope our beer is as enjoyable as this stuff is!

After getting some painting and yard work done as well as taking the wife to see The Dark Knight and then to dinner, I'm enjoying a nice pour of Lot B while relaxing with "But Always Fine Bourbon".

I really like my new work schedule and I'm really going to get spoiled by these three day weekends.

WT 8 export. This brand has changed/improved enormously lately and as far as I can judge the taste profile nowadays are more or less the exact same as 101 when that one was 8 years.

Last night we went to Bonefish with some friends, then returned home for drinks and dessert. My friend is a Maker's man, but I gave him some Weller Centennial and he enjoyed it greatly, as did I.

In my Woodford Reserve glass, initially a tot of that bourbon with a dash of Old Forester Signature added. I felt the WR on its own was a little congeneric and the Forester softened it down and made it creamy and more tasty IMO.

After a small sip, I reserved the dram for later this week and moved to a blend of rums I made using quite a variety of rum sources, basically though mostly younger and older Demeraras. It is really good, with a lovely light molasses nose and taste. The mouthfeel is soft and the drink flows very smoothly on the palate, an effect I like.

Currently a 375ml of WL Weller SR L'Ville bottle! Smooth as silk! Very nice pour! I like it!

OFBB-2004. Quite a wile since last but I still love this chewy stuff and I have never understood its underestimation.

Oooo. I hope you were wearing your Pampers.

A cold Bell's Oberon in a frozen stoneware mug with a touch of salt. Life is good.

Hey Scott, didn't Jim Morrison attend FSU? Would have been before your time there, but not by that much.

Gary, Jim Morrison attended UCLA. As a matter of fact he was quite the run of the mill kid...until he reached California.

Happens to the best of Us! LOL!

Thanks Marc, and I do recall that now, but I thought he had attended college in Florida too.

I'm one of those who severely criticized the '04 BB. I'm not afraid to admit when I make mistakes. I admit I was wrong. In my defense, I would point out it took several months for this BB to open up enough to be drinkable. Initially it was unpalatable, but later evolved into an outstanding bourbon.

Still mourning the loss of job. Stagg, Stagg and more Stagg. Not wanting to ruin myself all at one time, I have cut it down to 107 proof.

From Wikipedia (I should always think now of checking that before asking):

"With his father in the Navy, Morrison's family moved often. He spent part of his childhood in San Diego, California. In 1958, Morrison attended Alameda High School in Alameda, California. However, he graduated from George Washington High School (now George Washington Middle School) in Alexandria, Virginia, in June 1961. His father was also stationed at Mayport Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida.

Morrison went to live with his paternal grandparents in Clearwater, Florida, where he attended classes at St. Petersburg Junior College. In 1962, he transferred to Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he appeared in a school recruitment film.[5] While attending FSU, Morrison got arrested for a prank following a home football game.[6]".

Bushmills 10 with ice and a bit of added water......There is just something appealing to me about Irish whiskeys during the hot summer months.
