Megawatt
Killed my Wiser's Legacy last night. And just as I was really starting to enjoy it. I hate when it takes half a bottle to figure a whisky out. For those interested in trying Legacy, I recommend letting it sit in the glass for at least five minutes before trying to assess it. Also, a splash of water/single ice cube won't hurt. unclebunk
Caol Ila cask strength. This one was 59.2% and it was just sooooo fine. I so hate to see it go. I have some more in the bunker, but they're marked 59.3% ... so from a different run. But it doesn't matter. I've never had a Caol Ila I didn't think was great. I love all Islays, (... uhm...but maybe not Bowmore so much) but I enjoyed this bottle even more than other excellent Islays I've had, like Laphroaig cask strength or Quarter Cask, or Ardbeg 10 or Lagavulin 12, ... or 16 ... okay... as much as I like Lagavulin 16 (at least as I remember) ... and Ardbeg Uidiagail (or whatever spelling). It was cool, damp and rainy today. Maybe that's why that peat smoke hit the spot. ...something ...I want to build a camp fire.I'll have to try the CI Cask Strength, as I really love the standard 12 year old version. Caol Ila doesn't seem to get the attention it deserves and has climbed very near the top of my list of classic single malts.
The Boozer
Clontarf Single Malt. A tasting Irish whiskey. Will be missed and hard to find.
DeanSheen
I had to escort a 1.75 of Weller Sr. from Everetts down to the basement for storage. Next stop, Dads raspberry wine.
Megawatt
Finishing off Forty Creek Confederation Oak Reserve. I declare this the best Canadian whisky I've had. Superb depth and balance, and a bittersweet flavour with clean wood notes that I haven't found elsewhere. Very, very good.
Bourbon Boiler
Killed a 4R yellow this week. Not bad at all, but probably won't be replaced anytime soon.
roostercogburn
Finally finished a bottle of Macallan 10 Fine Oak. Glad to see this one go. So sweet it makes the Glenlivet French Oak seem like Laphroaig by comparison.
Virus_Of_Life
For the first in a very long time I finished off a bottle of Scotch last night, Laphroaig 18 year old. Glad I bought a couple cases of this when it was on sale for under $50 in Minnesota! It is very good stuff, I do think I like the Cairdeas better but I haven't gotten around to researching what makes it different. Tennessee Dave
Last dram of Macallan 18 last night. I am not sure that I am going to replace this one.
GreggJ
Polished of a bottle of Laprhoaig CS batch #02. This is probably my favorite whiskey under $65. Still think the original CS before the batch #s was slightly better but, time will tell. It looks like batch 03 was bottled starting in January 11 and should be at US shelves shortly. Definitely will be replacing this, probably before the 03's are around. Great Islay for those on the fence I would definitely recommend grabbing a bottle. Clavius
Killed my Laphroaig 10yr the other day. I will fondly remember that bottle as the one that started it all with my newfound Islay single malt obsession. Looking forward to getting another bottle. Just having trouble finding it. mosugoji64
HH BIB gold label. As my intro to the wonderful world of HH BIBs, it will always hold a special place in my heart. But for now, it occupies a special place in the recycle bin.
brritscold
Finished a Balvenie 12 doublewood. Delicious! Especially great to give to friends who are new to whisky, since it's pretty sweet, with the intense honey flavors, and I've personally seen several friends who tried it and became Scotch converts. pfiest
Ever had the Nectar D'Or? Pretty good, IMHO. And I'm not even a fan of the Highland single malts.Yes, I actually enjoy most of the Glenmorangie line, but for the value (at least in OH), it's tough to beat the 10.
