First last night was WTAS - I'm really starting to like this juice, seems like the finish is getting a little longer and sweeter as it sits in the open bottle.

Then followed by 6yr Willett, the Em and Reid Green top, one of my favorites.

Two great pours...I too like the WTAS but it seems it doesn't get a lot of love around here.

I had a pour of 99 OWA last night while watching some neighborhood fireworks.

EW 1783, No. 10 Brand. We're monitoring whether the age statement drop correlates with a quality drop. So far, the current expression holds up. We'll keep a couple of 10 yr expressions in the bunker, but at $26 for a 1.75L, hard to beat for a summer/fall/winter/spring pour.

None. I over indulged on the 4th.

Don't fell bad for me, I would do it all over again.

I just opened a RR90 that I found at my local liquor store. I find it pretty drinkable.

I also tried the RR Rye and it's all right but there are other ryes I like better.

FR1B. Still can't make up my mind about what's left of this bottle. it was good last night and annoying today.

Moved onto some bonded fitz, and then over to some rare breed. Not really feeling anything tonight.

I had the same thing going on last night too.....PVW 15, VSOP 12 and EWSB 2000. It was weird too because I was looking forward to some bourbon sipping after not getting enough during social holiday outings where mostly beer and wine were the offered beverages.

Weller Antique again tonight.

I tasted the '04 bottle against the NAS. Its close, but I think the '04 bottle is better, but not by a lot.

This evening, while grilling marinated chicken breasts over a charcoal fire, I had a healthy pour of Old Grand Dad 86 with about 8 ice cubes and a splash of water. It was good.

Makers 46 tonight with baseball on the tube.

Is it still "the tube" when watching on a flat panel LCD?

Yup. Otherwise boob tube wouldn't make sense anymore, and TV does still suck.

HH 6yo BiB.

Haven't had a pour in a few days. I decide to have one tonight. Something a little out of the ordinary for me. 99/09 EWSB. Not bad. Not bad at all. Joe

Having an 2001 Old Bardstown Premium, 90proof - It's oily in a way unlike current HH juice and a little bit bitter. Doesn't seem particular young or mature - it's whiskey.

Before that I had a 1972 Charter 7yo, 86 - this is one of the bourbons that elevated my game from buy one, drink one to some serious dusty hunting. It has a rich, light brown sugar that would be a great lead-in to a Butterscotch Taylor 86p from the '80s. I love this one still.

Before that I had a had an Elmer T Lee Hi-Time bottling from a couple of years ago (Thanks Ken!). It has the sweet tooth of our favorite nonagenarian but also that touch of funk that doesn't quite fit with Mr Lee, who was almost into AARP member age by the time that Bootsy Collins first brought the funk into James Brown's repertoire.

Next up may be a Hotalings non-bond 11yo. That one's like wading into the lake when you get just past mid-thigh - you fear it'll be a bit challenging but once you're into it and your bits get...acclimated... its all pleasant swimming.

Went to a bar whilst waiting for my train yesterday and saw they had a small amount of knob creek left, this is a large chain that I know have stopped selling it and moved on to BT and bulleit instead.

Anyway the barman served the drink then couldn't find it on the till so couldn't sell it me as it will affect his stocks, so he took it off me and poured it back in the bottle!

I was fed up with his attitude at this point and didn't fancy any of the others so went and caught my train :(

That is one of the strangest bar stories I have ever heard, Rutter. I think most barmen, on finding that they couldn't sell it to you, would just give it to you. You, of course, would then leave him a very nice tip.

My point was that if its not on his till now its not going to be on there again, so someone is going to order one again with a different barman who would most likely put it through as the same price as something else which is what I told him to do. Kind of wished I'd ordered it with Ice as then he wouldn't have been able to pour it back into the bottle!

I wonder how long that one remaining pour will sit on the shelf waiting to be sipped?

People still "dial" phone numbers, even though most phones have used buttons for over 20 years.

As fer drinkin', last eve was EWSB 2000 on the rocks. This morning (hey, I'm on vacation) was a spot of MM 46 in my coffee.
