A couple of simple drinks last night (WT Rye & Virgin) followed up with EC18.

The EC18 is sensational.

Now I'm drinking the 17yr FR1B OBSV from the gift shop, and it is hitting such a deep note. It is definitely darker on the eyes than any 4R I've ever had, and that weight lends itself in the best possible way in the tasting. It's heavy without being overwhelming in the least. It's just deeply satisfying at this moment.

I started late with some Auchroisk 20yo, a rare cask strength single malt Speyside from the distillery. I moved on to some beer and a THH+Dickel BS cocktail. Then a bit of PHC wheated and on to Pappy 20, so no shortage of decadence tonight. I needed it.

This living, aged, OBSV is pushing into beatific wonderland. Thank you Mr. Rutledge!

Hey Cam I am curious, a difference from the standard Pappy 23 ?

I totally agree. I remember picking up a bottle from a small bottleshop in New York and drinking it in my hotel room. I was blown away by how well it was put together. Not too much oak at all.

Hi Marty, it's different in two ways: It was a barrel selection single barrel, and it was non-chill filtered. I can't tell if it tastes different from a standard Pappy 23 bottle as I've never tried a standard bottle :skep:

Other way round for me. But I think its more likely that you'll have a standard 23 before I ever get to have a Pappy 23 single barrel n/c

On a lesser note currently into some Beared Lady Blended Bourbon.

I don't know if it counts if I'm on vacation in Hawaii, but I've been enjoying some Knob Creek, JD Single Barrel, Old Forester (miniature bottles) and Crown Royal over the last 2 weeks or so...

I am intrigued to taste the new EC20 if anybody can source one for me, Scottie? ;)

After passing up several special occasions over the years, I finally cracked my bottle of SB.com barrel purchase non-chill filtered Pappy 23 for my Dad's 72nd birthday. We followed it up with some Devils Cut (keeping the strong wood and tanin theme) and rounded it out with a significant amount of Canadian Club 12yo.

Is he 72!!! Wow seems like the bourbon is certainly preserving the old fella, send him my regards Cam.

What are you going to bring back with your allowance? I got some good stuff in Singapore - Dickel, Silver Select, Rittenhouse, Blanton's barrel proof etc.

Nice travelling with another adult who doesn't care to use their allowance (i.e. my wife). Haha.

Hmmm, some Old Granddad sounds interesting... Do you still have Virginia Gentleman by chance? I'm really enjoying the bottle I picked up before Xmas :)

I have had a couple of pours of '09 GTS lately to wet the heads of my twin boys. I can see why the Stagg gets a lot of love. It is very fine.

Do you have much left of your premium spirits wall? Thought I might make a visit this week to take some off your hands.

Guys - nearly out of Dickel 12. Never ordered online before and have seen Binny's mentioned on here. Do I have to phone in? Any tips?

I actually just won a double pass to a Jack Daniels Honey event in Sydney from a Facebook competition. Should be an interesting night, not sure what the crowd will be like.
