Enjoying life on the cruise ship Azamara Quest, floating around off the coast of Italy at the moment. They're Jim Beam small batch onboard along with MM (Is there anyplace that doesn't have this?), so I had KC the first night. Last night decided to go to the dark side with Laphroaig 10, very tasty with prime rib I might add.

Wasn't sure what to go with today until I spotted a bottle of Blanton's at the pool bar. Not sure why it isn't in any of the other bars, but since there's only about a third of the bottle left, I better get after it.

This evening I had a couple of pours of Angel's Envy while grilling steaks for me and the misses. Tonight I am drinking Eagle Rare 10 y/o while on the porch savoring a Romeo Y Julietta Churchill. Doesn't get better than this.

Doing some vatting tonight:

1 part 4R SBBS OBSK, 2 parts OBSF and 4 parts 4R Small Batch. Very nice! Balanced but interesting and complex but not busy. Like a starlight peppermint.

Trying some of the Black Gold that I found the other day. Bottle date is 1983 and there are remnants of a tax/paper strip. The clerk said they fell off when washing it. No gov't warning, upc or tamper proof cap.

Nose is thin with corn, vanilla and rye and a hint of caramel. Entry is soft and sweet with corn and a touch of rye. Finish was not very long and had minimal heat. Very Bartonesque. Overall, this is satisfactory neat and would be a good mixer. My palate tells me this is a 90 proof Ten High for some reason.
