Currently enjoying some BT, had a nice pour of some Bernheim Original earlier and it was the first time I had opened and tried it.

Just drinking a big pour of an older PVW15 and my permanent roommate said she would like to have some. I gave her a pour too. She eventually spilled it and stepped in it...she stepped in most of what I poured her but she did recognize it and say 'this is Pappy'. I shared, at least.

This bottle is really quite an extraordinary right now. I opened this bottle in August and wow it has electricity rolling around in your mouth even more so than when I opened it. Ah, wheaters. This is how bourbon should be and not on your permanent roommate's feet!

2011 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon

How is it? Compared to last year's?

I have a store here that had about 10 bottles of it for $37.

I can't say in regards to last years vintage. I didn't get to try it. But this year's is pretty good, imho. Worth the price of admission, and I paid about $45 here in Kentucky. So $37 is a good price on it.

I liked last year's, but this year's is much better.

A two-whisky blend which produces a silky, rich drink which tastes neither young nor old but just right.

It's JD Silver Select with a dash of Michter's 10 year old rye (really 18 years apparently). I used about 3:1 Jack to the Michter's. The JD mashbill is light on rye, so this "fixes" that, and the extra-aged quality of the Michter's dissolves into the younger whiskey to the advantage of both IMO.

And neither is bourbon I know, yet the result is, in a manner of speaking. :)

Continuing with Gary's vatting experiments, I'm drinking a 2:1 of OWA CNB barrel #54 and an older, age-stated OWA. The CNB bottle has more oak up front, while the older bottle has more Weller sweetness at the fore. This combination seems to balance the two quite nicely!

Over the weekend I was enjoying some OGD 114 with football. Really quite nice. So, today, I was inclined to pour some OGD BIB just for comparison. Also quite nice with obvious similarities. The plan for tomorrow is to move on to the Basil Hayden to compare different expressions of the same idea. I don't plan to be disappointed even if, frankly, I tend to find the BH the weakest link.

Yesterday; Weller 12, Lot B, Pappy 15, and Pappy 20. Today, the co-bourbon of the month; Colonel E.H. Taylor SB BIB. Joe

Started a fire and poured some Basil Hayden and OGD BIB. The BH was better than I remembered but not twice as good as the OGD. So, when it's time to make the next buy, I'll take two bottles of the OGD instead of one bottle of BH.

It's a 4R night for me too. I'm having a glass of Single Barrel with a splash of the 2009 Ltd Ed. Single Barrel. Very nice combo. The 2009 rounds out the spice of the standard SB very nicely.

FR1b, #NS 12-5U. Best bottle of this I've had in a long time, absolutely stellar in every way. It's my buddy's bottle, I'm gonna see if I can get one just like it tomorrow. I'm always impressed by the FR1b but this is beyond.

Cheeeeers!!

Went with 2000 ewsb then a rye in the 2009 THH. Warmed me up with the temp dropping 30 degrees in in 3 hours.

I'm actually having trouble deciding which bourbon I want to drink tonight. :(

That's the kind of problem you want to have!

As for me... Elmer T. Lee!
