Noticed today that Costco is getting low on EC18, so I grabbed one for the bunker. I'm sure stragglers will be around for a while, but Costco has the best price I've seen.

2 days, 2 states, 2 cities-more than 2 stores

Taylor Tornado x4

Lot B x2

Weller 12yr x2

PVW 15yr x1

PVW 20yr x5

GTS x1

Been on the road, and expectations for finding anything exciting were completely blown away by the finds.

Better yet, everything was at "normal" pricing, if not low end normal. 4 of the 20yr's were literally taken "off the shelf". No reservations, no calling ahead. Just walked in.

Walking into the last store and looking over the register just seeing George and Pappy sitting there next to each other, completely makes the heart a flutter.

Last night taking a closer look at one of the 20yr's that I gifted my BIL for his b-day, I was floored that the bottle code pinged it as a 2008. Looking at the other three that I picked up in the same city, two were also 08's and the other was a 11.

The Stagg was a 09.

It's fun to read about other's walking into a store and finding the unbelievable, but it's even better when it happens to you.

Cracked the Stagg when the party wound down to just him and I and his misses. Lightning in the distance, crackle of the fire, cool night air, it was a memorable and delicious pour with great company.

Just got back from my first Derby trip. Had a fantastic time and picked up a few bottles of what should be great bourbon. I married into this trip, so I will be hitting more distilleries in future years Here's what I got:

Four Roses 17 yo OBSV selected by Jim Rutledge for the Four Roses Gift Shop.

3 bottles of the special Four Roses OESV selected for the Derby by Jim Rutledge (and signed!) and sold only at the Derby Museum at Churchill Downs (aged 10 years, 8 months).

Got a regular WT Rare Breed bottle at the distillery with my name on it from the distillery.

Looking forward to trying these after taking a much needed break from bourbon for a few days.

<---- super jealous about the 4R scores, nice haul Dawg

Thanks, I'm kicking myself for not picking up more of the OBSV from the gift shop. I knew I would be buying the Derby special edition, though, so I only picked up one. Oh well.

Also, I've found the FR gift shop selections to be outstanding.

Went to Indiana to visit with some friends and brought back:

Bourbon: Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2006, Old Weller Antique 107, W.H. Harrison Governors reserve barrel proof, KinnicKinnic, and Russels Reserve 10 year.

Other Whisky: Canadian Club 100 proof, George Dickel barrel select, Royal Canadian Small Batch

Rum: Seven Tiki, Ron Bacarrdi solera

I've never had any of these, nor have I seen any of them in Ohio. I've only opened up the Russels reserve so far and it was very good.

What cities did you visit for that haul?

Looks like I have competition in my area. The store which had around 6 or 7 bottles of Russell's Reserve 101 (that I believe had been there for a long time) has been hit - was only one bottle left (I purchased a bottle the other week). I grabbed it together with two bottles of EWSB 2000. The store has around 8 bottles of WT 12 year old, never had that so will go back shortly.

after opening (and loving) the 4R SB from Bottle Barn, I went over to see how many were left. There were 2 lonely bottles left -- shot a text to my enabler (see: dridge11) and both were in the basket soon there after. The bourbon buyer also told me someone never bothered to pick up the last ORVW 10/107 he had and that it was mine if I wanted it. Not even sure I wanted it, but I bought it anyway. And some Stone Imperial Russian Stout. Big day.

This is getting crazy! Stopped by a local I-65 store and found 2 bottles of EC18 and one bottle of PVW23. They all came home with me!

So very pretty!

How have you been recognized as the leading candidate for BOTY? Is that a self proclamation?
