Passed up a trio of PHC 2012 (already have my share) and a bunch of HW American Prairie Reserve (maybe later).

Passed up a half-dozen WTKS, smooth dark top (bottled '04), and a couple of first-batch Baker's (bottled '92). They've been sitting on the top back shelf of this store for years.

I might regret this later, but I passed on a case of PVW 15 offered to me by local enabler. If I can't flip 'em on eBay, what good are they? [no PMs please, this was purely TIC]

Yikes! You'll have people flying to Georgia just to buy the damned case! Stick 'em in the bunker and bring them to the next KBF. You'll get rid of them, that's for sure.

I passed on 3 dusty Old Fitzgerald 80 proof (750ml). I did buy a few and tasted them when I got home. It's possible they are from 1990 or 91.

A couple WT 101s, some EH Taylor Rye, and some Whistle Pig Rye.

Whistle Pig caught my eye, but I've got to save a few bucks, heading to Keeneland next weekend, and I'm sure I'll find some good stuff on the trip through TN, and KY.

3x Jefferson's Ocean

I thought about buying them and selling them on eBay for a massive profit, but thanks to the neo-prohibitionist oppressors of human rights around here, I can no longer do this.

THH @ $99.99 ... why not the extra penny?

(kind of like gas at $3.99 9/10 a gallon ...)

Passed on a few 2010 THH's and some 2009 & 2010 OFBB's this weekend. May go back for one of Handy's but am trying to budget for the 2012 PHC's that I plan to buy

Passed on some Wiser's Legacy and Rendezvous Rye the other day. May go back for one or both though.

Legacy is that good, huh? I've not had either.

As a Canadian I may be biased, but Wiser's Legacy is one of the few HIGH quality sipping Canadian whiskies - and it's not the watery 40% like the vast majority of others (including Forty Creek).

Any others you would recommend?

Probably for some I wouldn't ever have a opportunity to try, but it's always good to have a reference. Looking forward to opening my FC Confederation Oak some day, probably the only one I will ever have.

I'll get this thread back on track...was browsing SB about 30 minutes ago when I decided to check the store across the street from my parents' house. I was surprised to find a Vintage Rye 23 ($99) and a AH Hirsch 16 Gold Foil ($300), but passed on both. $300 for the gold foil is actually the lowest I've seen it in the wild, but that much money buys an awful lot of bourbon.

Unfortunately, it appears that most (all?) of the small batch/single barrel/limited releases are bottled by American companies and shipped back to Canada (Royal Canadian small batch & Caribou Crossing from Sazerac, Masterson's, Jefferson's, Whistlepig etc). :frown:

From limited experience, of the currently available offerings bottled by the producers:

Alberta Premium, 100% rye, 40%ABV. (If you find a dusty bottle of 25yo or 30yo GRAB IT!!!)

Forty Creek, they are all good. (I'm looking forward to the newly released port wood reserve)

Wiser's (small batch, legacy, 18yo) are all good but the best bang for your buck is the Legacy.

Danfield's 21yo

Crown Royal XR is good but, IMO, not worth the $180Cdn (knock out the 1 and it might be on my shelf)

Ritt 23

Willett 20 yo bourbon

2011 Handy and Saz

and many others that I can't remember right now.

Passed on the EH Taylor rye. First bottle I've seen of it, but not a tough decision when a lone bottle of Sazerac 18 was sitting on the shelf just above it.

Passed on multiple bottles of every BTAC, which just hit a certain town in Wisconsin. I'm too busy grabbing all the PHC my wife will allow.

Passed on a FR 2008 Mariage today. I'll probably pick it up sometime in the future (hopefully).
