gcsjr
Just bought my first BIBs...Old Heaven Hill and Very Old Barton. Both of these knock the socks off Knob Creek and Woodford Reserve. Wow!Well, I've got a lot to learn. Seems every time I tasted these two, they are different. Mostly good, but sometimes kinda bad. Never as good as the first taste. And every time I taste the Knob Creek, it's good. Hmmmm....
JPBoston
Well, I've got a lot to learn. Seems every time I tasted these two, they are different. Mostly good, but sometimes kinda bad. Never as good as the first taste. And every time I taste the Knob Creek, it's good. Hmmmm....That's happened to me too. It's very frustrating.I'll pop open a bottle and think "This is incredible!" then a few days later I'll be looking forward to enjoying some more, and be severely disappointed. OWA did this to me, though I still enjoy it overall. JBB really was the monster though. First pour was very sweet but not much else, but the sweetness made it interesting. The rest of the pours lost all the sweetness and left only bitter wood with no other flavor at all. Then other times, the opposite will happen, where opening a bottle and getting some fresh air in there seems to 'open up' the flavor a bit (seems to be the case with EC12 for me).I do agree about KC --- great, reasonably priced, readily available, consistent stuff. Crowes
I did as well. Did Carolyn give you a call today?A woman called me today, yeah, but I'm not a frequent customer there so I'm not sure if it was her or not. A friend tipped me off to it weeks ago so I got on the list. Seems like a great store.

I got these for a good price - anyone know how these stand up to current years?RobI have been working on the last bit of an '08 GTS bottle and so I've had a bit lately. Assuming the price was right... Great buy. There are precious few old Staggs left around still on shelves.

There are precious few old Staggs left around still on shelves. Thanks for the input. I first saw these bottles over a year ago and have been watching them ever since. I checked the archives to see what was being said about these years when they were released. They were higher priced than I wanted to pay for a year that I had not tried (but still a little less than current suggested retail). I asked for a bit of a discount since I seemed to be the only one interested. Now they're mine... all mine!Rob
Yeti
I caught a bottle of Old Forester Birthday added to one of my favorite web retailers and placed an order. Haven't had this yet, but I like the description in the reviews.

RVTsteve
Today I found a WTKS dark wood top from 12-21-04, EC 18 barreled 12-28-1990, and an OF B-Day Bourbon distilled in Spring 1990 bottled in 2003. Along with some solid single malts and tequila all at really good prices (for my part of California). All at a store I wouldn't have found if I didn't take a wrong turn. So cool when that happens.
