A nasty head cold has sabotaged my whiskey enjoyment for the last week but my alma mater's first bowl win, at the Gator, in 64 years means a pour of OGD 114 is in order . They won a grand stinking 12 games out of 44 in my years there .

Last night I had my first taste of the BT line - Blanton's original. Smooth, balanced, classic bourbon flavor - nothing outstanding, yet nothing to fault makes for an excellent reference standard.

Starting off the New Year right. Polished off a bottle of V17 non wheat while watching Cannonball Run, now having some Old Fitz BIB. Smokey and The Bandit is next.

A little Burt Reynolds marathon, nice!

Drinking some JPS 18 batch 30. Not bad, but it has opened up completely yet. Only had it open about 3 weeks.

Yeah we did a gift exchange as part of our family Xmas and I ended up with 3 Burt Reynold's DVD's that my wife has never seen, so she's being tortured with it today. I'll probably save her from watching Stroker Ace though.

A glass of Aberlour A'bunadh followed by a nice pour of Four Roses Small Batch.

Those Reynolds movies are classics. She should be thanking you for exposing her to such culture!

I would like to get some Overholt. The locals don't carry it though it's available in our State.

Up late late late last night reading a book written by someone I knew in high school.

I started out by cracking open the Great King Street blended scotch from Compass Box. Y'know, SB.com has ruined me when it comes to even 86 proofers. I didn't realize how much until I had a decent sip of this on the tongue and my first impression was "very good... interesting flavors... but... needs more ABV!".

Followed it a chapter or two later with 4R1BLE 2012 and then 4RSmBLE 2012. Both are great whiskies, and sadly, I only have one bottle of the single-barrel.

As often happens with me and books I like, I look up from the ending of the book, check the clock, and it's 2am. Alarm is at 7am to get to work on time. *sigh*

It's not that different from Beam rye. Maybe has a little more bite. Of course its about 2/3 the price.

Pretty familiar with Overholt Brisko, I was drinking it before Beam bought the brand. Other than lowering the proof they haven't done too much damage.

Good to hear. I'll defer to your judgment.

Experience doesn't equate judgment, I've got a helluva lot to learn.
