squire
I passed on a 2001 Weller 19. I hear that particular year is very woody, extremely bitter, and fairly dense. . . . it must be one hectic time trying to dump those particular duds.Explains how some NDPs get their hands on old stuff. squire
Well it is exclusive, that's true because the distiller certainly didn't intend for it to turn out that way.
Alphanumeric
Failed dusty hunting today, but still found some decent stuff. Left an Elijah Craig 18 on the shelf but picked up a Jefferson's rye (Canadian juice) @ $35, Centinela Reposado @ $30, and a 375 of Pierre Ferrand Reserve @ $20.I did find a few bottles of Old Taylor 6 year, but I didn't know much about it so I passed. Renegator
Passed on some Black Maple Hill. Price is starting to creep up. Some stores still have it at $49.99 but some have it as high as $69.99.

squire
That one's a B&C (Bourbon and Coke) mixer and should be priced accordingly.
smokinjoe
Passed on EC 21 at $125. I think I'm going to go back and get one, though. Intrigued by the 21 years, and it's pre-fire HH roots.

ChainWhip
Would depend on when it was bottled, a very old bottle of Old Taylor is a thing to be desired.Would you consider "very old" pre-Beam or some other timeframe?
squire
I started drinking Old Taylor in the mid 1960s and the whisky would've been distilled in the late 50s but I don't think we have to go back quite that far. Today I would look for pre Beam Old Taylor ( prior to 1987) bottles and be especially on the lookout for BIBs.

We had one open at the Indy Gazebo but that was an unfair fight with all the rarities on offer that night. Wish I could give you tasting guidance but not sure it tried it that night. The EC 18 was a steal at $50-$55, but I didn't get enough "more" out of the 20 to justify a huge price increase. I'm saving my money for the next PHC. Or if I run across any Bourbon Supreme (in the "good" bottle that is)
LiveFromLou
Lots and lots of 2013 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon. Most of the stores here in Louisville only got minimal shipments and I got my one. Stopped in to liquor store outside of town and they had four boxes of it just sitting on an end cap. I don't know how they got that much, but it didn't look like it was moving fast, either. This store also had tons of Angel's Envy Rye, Woodford Four Wood, this year's Maker's Mark coaches edition, and some 2013 Four Roses Limited Edition Single Barrel. We received a fair amount and it is moving steadily. Early reviews have been very good. Were the prices for the limited releases at the place outside of louisville normal or inflated? I have seen some AE rye out there lately, not sure if more was released or these places dont have the clientele to sell it quickly. I would be curious to know where the 4R limited is. I would love to have a "backup" bottle. Was the makers mark the pitino bottle? We sold out in 15 minutes and received more phone calls in the next week than even the bourbons named Van Winkle.
