Guest
I also bought a bottle of the bulleit rye last night, i like it, while at first i noticed they had canadian club 20yr for $80, seems affordable for the age, anyone here tried it?
camduncan
I love CC 20 and grabbed a couple of bottles last year when it was on special for $60, but if you're after bang for buck, CC12 at $45 is a better deal. I'd probably pick Crown Royal over CC 20, but that's just me. As for last night, I enjoyed a couple of 'New York' pours of Makers Mark and Cokes over lots of ice with a slice of lime. Very refreshing!
Vietish
Bragging? Heh what now?On the weekend, decided against better judgement to try the pre mixed Bulleit drinks that are out. God. I wanted curl into a little ball and die. Worst drink I think I have ever consumed and I have drunk some questionable things in my time. On the other had, sat down on Sat night, smoked a cigar and had a very big pour of Eagle Rare with the girl. That was much much better.

Vietish
All of them Cam, as there was a special 3 for $15. Store clerk really sold them as fantastic. Louisville LemonadeKentucky BuckBatches the RamblerOut of all three, I could maybe get through half of the Louisville Lemonade. But that was a struggle. I know I don't have the most refined palate and its only just now I can start really getting the flavour profiles out of each bourbon I drink, but I know I will not be going back to them ever. Guest
Noticed today at dans a new tennesee whiskey - Collier and mckeel, didnt buy it because of its unknown status, anyone tried it? Only about $55 but i want a higher proof than 80 for that coinAlso saw a limited release JD at 86pf, masters select or something like that, $65 so walked away and left it for the JD crazies
camduncan
I found some positive Collier and Mckeel reviews online via Google that made me think it's worth trying. Proof doesn't enter into my decisions, so I'll probably drop the coin for a bottle as a Christmas present to myself next month. Interesting it was $55 at your local. It's listed as $49.99 on their website and was same when I was at our Dan's here yesterday.
camduncan
Forgot to add, picked up a bottle of John B Stetson. Will open it tonight with Scott (Hightower). I'm pretty sure it's a Heaven Hill product, so will be interesting to compare to Evan Williams or Elijah Craig.

Tasted sweet and a bit thin/light, worst thing i could say about it is that the finish dissapears rapidly. I liked it enough to pick up a bottle for $37 or so. What i was explained is that they started with very small barrels and have gradually moved to larger (though blended to some extent). I figured worst case it'd make a good mixer with Coke in the warmer months.
Guest
Mmmm could have been looking at the wrong tag? I will have to confirm next time. Keen to hear how you go with the stetson, if it was instore I would pick on up but as it is I have to online order I havent been bothered, i have heard good things. Thanks for the info global, would you compare it to JD in anyway?I did find an older discussion about collier in this sites archives, some interesting banter there, appeared the maker himself came onboard for a couple posts then vanished. Guest
Lighter taste than JD, none of the charcoal filtered kick (JD/Dickel). I will give them credit for keeping the price reasonable given the age compared to many other NDP and micros. You are right, that is commendable. Lighter than JD? wow, I think I will be waiting to try someone else's bottle.

Guest
My local has some, never tried, will be getting a bottle to see what Im about to miss out on, my go to cheapie is old virginia at dans, $34 for a 6yr straight, thumbsup.com/bargain! bjbronwyn
Ive got a bottle of the Collier open, and I agree its a bit thin. Good for a mixer but refer JD myself. Havent seen the Stetson on shelves yet, Id be interested to know. On another topic im really enjoying a few glasses of Templeton Rye at the moment. When I first opened the bottle it seemed ok, but revisited it after a few months, and its super. Sweet, smooth with not too much spice which seems to overtake a few of the higher proof ryes. It was surprising as I usually associate quality rye with heavy spice. Recommended!

camduncan
There's a 12yo Old Virginia due out some time soon. I've heard some of the previous post mentioned Jim Beam products should be released in November. I think it'll be the Signature series and Knob Creek. bjbronwyn
Ive only bought the one bottle of OV, and from memory, it was better than I expected. I don't know if i'll grab the 12yr though, as I expect the price to double. There are quite a few bourbons in that price range that id grab instead. BT and blantons to name a few!
