The JD Master Distillers no 1 for $65 is too rich for a drinker IMO, but future collectors will be paying about $200 for this bottle in a year or two, might be a good investment.

is anyone else curious how OV is distilled in the US but bottled in France, and still is one of the cheapest bourbon in Australia?

Old Virginia 12 looks like it will be $60 at Dan's.

I will definitely be trying a bottle. It has been an exciting 12 months or so for bourbon releases locally, always something new out or coming soon, but I wish they would bring something establisbed over, like an old grand dad or weller or any bloody four roses.

Beggars and all I guess.

Thankfully Nicks always seem to have a supply of Four Roses on hand. Not as cheap as it would be if Dans did it, but it's better than none :)

4RsmlB is/was for sale on ebay for $80 delivered. I thought that was ok so I stocked up, beautiful whiskey. I think the seller is gooddrop, they also have a website.

Nicks have it too at the same price, but you need to spend $200 or more to get free shipping.

I saw that as well, but I am always hesitant to order from Ebay. But if you have had no issues with them, then its something I might need to look into closer.

Makes me glad I picked up a couple of Knob Creek bottles on my last OS trip. From memory they were $30 plus tax in Hawaii. I'm trying to reduce my open bottles at the moment, so hopefully I'll get around to opening a KC soon

I have looked over the gooddrop website and their prices seem decent, never odered anything but may now thanks to bjbronwyn. They do Knob Creek for $90 with free delivery, will be interesting where dans come in with their price when they bring it back, cant imagine they will be much cheaper, Im sure they COULD sell it for much cheaper but its been off the market long enough now that the first shippment will probably dissapear quickly regardless of price, then they will hold of from restocking long enough for the word to get around the JB crowd and generate enough pre christmas buzz to send sales skyrocketing.

Damn im in a cynical mood today!

Ive bought of ebay from gooddrop with no problems, glad I can help! I might wait for KC to come to dans and I think they might be substantially cheaper.

I hope youre right mate but I shall remain cynical!

Now to keep the cynicism alive, anyone here tried WT spiced or forgiven yet?

Yep, both. Loved the Forgiven, balance is beautiful, IMO. Its been my go to whiskey for the last couple of weeks, and I really enjoy it. As for the spiced, its not my thing. Massive treacle, molasses and maybe maple syrup flavours on entry, and just stay and linger too long after the partys over (like my brother). Might try a revisit in a little while, but wont get my hopes up.

Haha I guess the spiced is aimed at the mixer market so no suprises there, maybe put it aside for when your bro comes round.

Forgiven hey? Could you justify the added cost over the RB?

I tried the Spiced neat, and in a Mule (60ml Spiced, Squeeze of Lime and Ginger Beer over Ice) on Saturday night. I enjoyed it both times. Not something I'd drink neat daily, but certainly something I'd occasionally go to for a different style drink.

I occasionally mix some WT101 with WTRye101 and like the results, but never have any 86.8proof stuff on hand, I cant stand it, I find it hard to believe it is related to the 101, its just so bad!

The liquer is great though, actually tases like bourbon unlike some of the others.

Cam has the right idea about the spiced, I imagine its meant to be captain morgan spiced or sailor jerry substitute, and a mule is a hard drink to beat on a balmy evening. I might be inclined to try the spiced with a mule alternatrive I sometimes enjoy which substitutes the ginger beer with Dr Pepper, not to everyones taste but great for a sweet tooth moment.

I do enjoy mules generally, might have to give it a go, try putting a spash of ag. bitters in there also. As for the 86.8, I always have it on hand, but the 101 is better bourbon.

I use Bundaberg if I have to, but much prefer the Rose River alcoholic range from Dan's. Their Honey flavoured Ginger Beer is unbeatable in a Mule IMO..... but I do have a sweet tooth :)

Ive had Bundy and kirks (cheap) ginger beer, and they are both pretty good. Rose River sounds intriguing though.
