Quantum
I don't drink as much quantity wise as I used to, but I realized I may drink excessively often. To me, waiting for coffee to brew in the morning is a perfect time to do a quick taste of a couple BiB selections. Whenever I do a sampling or comparison, I like to taste each of the selections several times over a couple days, just to make sure they are fresh on the brain. I do think its funny when people are shocked that I'll have a moderate pour of FRsB with brunch, while they each kill a pitcher of mimosas. I drink less when I drink neat or with water chaser then switch to ginger ale while second and third rounds of cocktails appear. I can get that lingering taste to last and last but often endure smirks and ribbing. If they weren't paying, I'd find new drinking buddies. dSculptor
· Hidden Hidden Hey .. if anyone is interested I made up an excel spreadsheet for rate of consumption, simply do an inventory of your bottles pluck the #'s in the correlating boxesand presto it will tell you how long your inventory will last based onconsumption, it does put things into perspective a bit more, especially if you’relike me and have to go out and buy a bottle every week, even though you reallydon’t need it. Pm if you want me to send it to you. According to my numbers, Let's just say for instance, ifI drink about 13 oz. (half a bottle 750) per week, my supply will last me 2.73yrs. without ever buying another bottle, but don’t let your wife see it, or nodoubt she'll say enough is enough! Link to comment

Trey Manthey
I polish off about 2 bottles a month on average. That includes one bottle of common stuff that I mix cocktails with and one nicer bottle. Based on that, I've got a 10 year supply of nicer bourbon/rye/scotch that I've purchased in the space of 4 years, so I've definitely cut back on my purchasing. jayrod1980
I'm brand new, but with everything going on currently, I probably go through at least 2-3 750mL a month. When I get into something, I tend to go all out, and bourbon is just so good! I've been a big beer snob and occasional homebrewer the last 10 year or so, and I don't even think I've had more than a bottle of beer since Christmas. Bourbon is just that good! I fear for my liver.I also find I like non-peated Irish Whisky and Scotch too (hard to find Scotch without peat!) The difference is though, you can get so much better bourbon for less than a mediocre single malt.

I get looks, too, as though my neat pour (one serving) is somehow indicative of a dark problem, while others pound bottle after bottle of s****y beer. In such instances, I'll pick up a beer or two. Just to make "them" feel more comfortable. [insert smirking emoticon here.]
Creggor
Ok Many years ago. Back in the early 2001-2004 I was a very regular bourbon drinker.. Sometimes as much as 1-2 750 ml bottles a week.. Then for what ever reason I just stopped.. Then at the end of this year.. December 31 to be exact.. I figure what the heck.. I figured at my age 65 I might like to have a Bourbon again.. Since Jan 1st.. I have gone thru 2 full bottles.. KCSB and a Bottle of 2003 EWSB.. And maybe 1/3 of two other bottles.. So lets say in the past 30 days I have had 2-1/2 bottles.. Not a lot for some and to much for others.. Cheers.. Creggor

Paddy
the 'medically acceptable' amount is two drinks a day for males, so that is 60 drinks in a month. With a 750 having 25 drinks in it, 2.5 bottles (62.5 drinks) a month is right at the upper limit of the recommended amount.....if anyone is counting. Have at it! 393foureyedfox
25 drinks in a 750? Oh hell....I definitely need to reduce the size of my pours!!!
Creggor
Ok if my math is correct.. there are 12.7 2 oz shots in a 750 ML Bottle.. If and when I drink I normally allow myself 1-2-2oz drinks at any one time... Sometimes I may even be a little heavy on the pour.. So I figure to get 12 decent size 2 OZ Pours from a bottle.. I do not skimp on my pour..And do not feel I over do it.. I did have a couple of friends over so one of the bottles had some help.. So I do not know what you consider a decent size pour.. But no way do I get 25 drinks.. At least I am not pouring 1 oz shots.. Yet I understand the basis of your answer..Kinda like can you cut my Pizza in 8 slices.. I can not eat 12.. Slices... I want to taste the bourbon when I put it in my Diet Coke.. Cheers.. Creggor

Paddy
I usually try to limit my pours to three glugs. Sometimes my hand is not so fast and I end up with four. Oh well, I don't have to get up as often to refill my glass.

Enoch
I figure I go through about one handle a week. My neurotic fear of running out requires me to keep about 500 liters bunkered which works out to a 5 year supply. This is complemented by my need to go out and buy numerous bottles of anything the May not be available in the future. Sick isn't it? Good thing my house is paid for.........
