Max Power
I'll have to go looking for the Lagavulin DE now! I really like the Talisker DE. Have you tried it Max? Nope. I've had Taisker 10, 18 and 25 and liked them all so it's safe to assume that I'd like the DE.
zillah
Tried to finish off the last of that Scott's Selection Highland Park 21. Just wasn't happening. Turned it into a delicious Mamie Taylor instead! And with that, I have finished off a $185 mistake. Moving on to better things . . . Saw this one on the shelf and was debating whether to buy it. I think I may have dodged a bullet there. I think I may have dodged a bullet there. If you would like to know what it tastes like, buy a bottle of a normal batch of Glenlivet Nadurra, and maybe put a single drop of Ardbeg into the bottle. That is what it tastes like. Not a bad malt, but extremely plain for $185.

flahute
Enjoying a little Lot 40 on this fine evening.I really struggle with this one. I just don't get enough rye flavor out of it. I'll keep trying though.

I'll keep trying though. It's not my favorite whiskey, but it is one of my favorite ryes right now, though I still only dabble in it occasionally. Tonight might be time for another rye... r.mx
Sitting at the Brandy library in Manhattan, enjoying a Bruichladdich Cuvée 382 La Berenice 21yr old. If only all 21 year olds were this complex. Sigh.

risenc
My folks were just over in Scotland and brought back a Talisker Dark Storm. It's not the best whisky I've ever had, but I'm really digging the dark spice notes -- the finish tastes like a mouth full of red hots.
garbanzobean
Enjoying Lagavulin 12 2012 edition. Really an outstanding dram. Tons of peat, brine, seaweed, and a bit of earthiness (all in a good way!). I'm down to the last 3-4 drinks out of my bottle, and will be sad to see it go! Will probably pick up a '13 when they go on sale in the fall.

garbanzobean
Enjoying a Bruichladdich Laddie 10 yr. This is really nice. Good brine and iodine, but not much in the way of peat smoke. A bit of green fruit on the arrival, too. I love this, too bad it's going to distillery only for now. I think this is batch two, FWIW.

Yes I'm a baby and I'm still quite content with my pacifier single malts. Anyway, I have a 2012 that I just found a few weeks ago. It's yours garbanzo at my C+S if you wanted it...or anyone else for that matter. Can also get the 2013 for $70 before the Nice Government Men fee, as well. garbanzobean
I really appreciate the offer from both you guys (Max and Boots). I know of a few bottles of the '12 still hanging out in my area, but am an "onward and upward" kind of guy. I want to try out a '13 after having had the '12, and will do so when all the ones sitting around on shelves go on sale in the fall. Man, I can't imagine what it would be like to be able to purposely leave special edition bourbons on the shelves until they go on sale.

No point in spending perfectly good money on something you don't enjoy. One of the reasons I like single malt so much is that there are so many different flavor profiles to choose from. Out of curiousity, have you tried any of the unpeated Islay/Island malts? Does the saline/iodine character present in some of those appeal to you at all, or is that not your wheelhouse either? Most of my friends who don't like Islays tend to not be very descriptive, and as an experienced taster you might be able to give me better insight. I'm putting together an informal tasting for a few whisky-inexperienced friends later this week, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth having them taste something like Bruichladdich or Bunnahabhain. MtnDew
Having some Glenlivet myself, but a completely different one from normal. It's much closer to Glendronach, but with some of that honey that I associate with normal Glenlivet. I'm going to have to get another bottle while they are still around.
