Well………….

It was a weird week at work for me this week. But, in a good way. It's a long story, which I won't go into for change. :skep: I decided to have something special when I got home from work today. I opened one of my few remaining 07 WLW's. To quote fellow Hoosier Virgil (Gus) Grissom, "Fu**in' A Bubba!"

Cheers! Joe

Went to a bonfire/picnic and enjoyed a newly opened WSR 7yr age stated BT. Some neat some on the rocks. Very enjoyable pour.

Tonight was another mystery sample from my colleague at work. (We trade blind samples back and forth for unbiased reviews). I've learned much in my 6 months here and was immediately able to tell from the nose that this was an older bourbon. My guess was either Elijah Craig 21 or Barterhouse and indeed it was Barterhouse. Better than I expected though still not as appealing to me as 8-12 year bourbons.

I followed this up with a 4R private election OESK. It was on my mind because of the poll and this is one I really like.

4RSmb and a small pour from a LB 4R OBSQ. Also dabbled in a little rye. Pretty good start to the weekend.

got off work, had a shot of Old Bardstown 101, then a Woodchuck amber cider. Talked myself out of pouring the OGDBIB down the drain, but its gonna happen sooner or later.

Had some Kenwood FR PS OBSF last night while sitting on the patio at my in-laws. A very enjoyable pour on a beautiful night in Iowa. Excited to pick up some more FR PS from a not too far away location. :D

Last night was a rye night but started off this wet cool Saturday with some WTRB112 in me coffee. Oh yea!

Just take it to your next social gathering Doug, it mixes well.

Nice big pour of ECBP :yum: Really hitting the spot tonight, not that it often misses

Had my first pour of ECBP last night. I was underwhelmed. Now it was freshly opened and didnt have time to breath. The taste was good, but my complaint is that it didnt have much of a finish. My experience has been that higher proof bourbons have a longer finish and thicker mouthfeel. This one did not. Ill give it another shot soon. Like I said, its a good bourbon. I think I had my expectations set a little too high.

Open a new bottle ECBP from my stash and it happens to be 132.4. Yummy

The finish for me is long because the taste is so thick and complex that it lingers for a while. It's not the exhale that's the finish here for me

+1; ECBP for me is syrupy, without being "ultra sweet" if that makes sense. So much going on, and I love that it stands up to a good bit of water. I find myself adding a few drops after every sip, so each one is a bit different.
