I found my first S-W dusty! Not bourbon though, water. The bottle is from 1983, it was in a clearance section since the store is closing. I had heard about distilleries releasing bottles of their spring water to dilute their whiskey but I hadn't seen a bottle until now. According to this site, the registration for this product lasted from 1967-1989, which fits the bottle date. I don't plan to ever open this (I think bottle water goes stale after a while) but it seems like a neat piece of bourbon history, especially for $3.99.

Not sure water in plain glass would necessarily go bad. Plastic bottles would likely be a different story. But it is a nice keepsake as it is and no real reason to open it.

Fighting Cock. Never had it before. First time I've seen it (or at least first time I've noticed it). All the 50 mls they had on the shelf (that being two) - no bigger bottles; is a "new" item they are considering. Hot on the first taste but nice balance of flavors - a hint of popcorn and pepper and charcoaled beef (yum!). Lots of little drops on the inside of the glass after swirling. They stay there a long time. No oily corn when sipping, though buttered corn is there. Wonder what it's like with a few drops of water? I may put a few drops in some of the second 50 ml but most of it will top off the first 50 ml.

That is the coolest bourbon bar-candy I have seen in quite some time. Way to go.

What's funny is it even has a tax stamp! Even the WATER got taxed!

Did you go through the highs of spotting a tax stamped SW bottle from afar, and then the rollercoaster low of seeing it was just plain ol water?

It's raining Willett private barrel bourbons out here. Picked up a couple 10yr old 126 proofers that drink like a GTS, and a couple of 11yr old 117 proofers. Time for another Willett vertical tasting!

For me today was ...

2x store select ER10 SB

EC12 (store select 2 barrel "super small batch)

1.75L BT

...

and two 4 packs of Bluegrass Brewing Company's Bourbon Barrel Stout. That stuff is delicious.

Went to the store to buy WTRB, but they did not have the new bottling, so I passed.

Picked up WT 101 instead, as I have not had this in awhile. While I think this is a solid pour, not sure I would buy it again for $23.

i still think its a relative value at that price. A local big store has had it on 'sale' forever at $18.99 though. earlier this year, there were some that had coupons on them for $3 off, and others that had $5 rebate tags on them, making them a real steal at $11 effectively.

Agreed, that is a steal. I would have bought a case at that price

its was a one bottle limit on the rebates though, or i wouldve too. I was surprised that they let me do the rebate after doing the coupon on it already, but they did. you could use as many coupons as you had though, making them $16 each, and still a hell of a deal.

Just picked up two bottles of Booker's, same batch that Chuck Cowdery picked Batch No. C07-B-7. It is just a touch better than the standard stuff, which is also top notch.

Grabbed a lonely ECBP #5 ($44.65) hiding behind some bottom row bottles. Not sure if it was store personel originally stashing a bottle that didn't fit in the row or if someone was hiding it for later, but I have looked over the selection in this store several times since they "sold out" their last ECBP case and lucked out by spotting this one today.

Willett Family Estate 11yr from P&M Liquors. Thanks to a very generous SB member who made this purchase possible.

So I guess the barrel program is back in effect? I'm waiting on two of these I bought this week. How is yours?

I believe the barrel program is still on hold. This came from a barrel that was ordered more than a year ago. Willett is still working hard to catch up and move through their backlog.

This one is quite nice. Myself and the member who sent this to me believe it's Brown-Forman distillate in the birthday bourbon profile. I was very pleased with the first pour and am betting that some air time will make it better.
