Old Dusty
I certainly can believe that. It tastes more than a little similar. Actually, a bit cheaper here than EC12, so a bargain to boot! ...And, at 99-proof (EC12 is 94-pr), closer to the right ABV for this pour.Do you know for sure this HH juic, OD?I am 99.9% sure that HH is the source for Luxco's Ezra Brooks line. That used to include the 12yr single barrel Ezra B, the 7/101 Old Ezra and the bottom shelf 90(or80) proof Ezra Brooks. I believe that they have discontinued the Old Ezra and added a flavored option. Since age statements are falling and this is a NDP label, you might want to bunker a couple as a hedge against extinction if you really like them.Edit:the SB Whiskey Tree in the sticky above says "most likely" on the HH source and I am sure that I read it elsewhere (maybe Chuck C's blog). LCWoody
Having a very good line up tonight. It's hard to say which one is the best. They're all very good in their own way. If I had to pick one.... Tonight it would be Rhetoric 20y.

Eskwar
I can relate. We lost our dog to cancer last year at far too young an age (6), and I am still not over her. (She's pictured in my avatar.) Dogs bring so much joy to lives it's amazing. That is a really nice tribute (your avatar). The wife and I had a 17-yo shepherd/lab mix pass away a couple years back (harder on us than on our kids!). We've got a 15-yo / 80-lb one remaining who is my frequent late late-night drinking companion. Condolences to those of you all with recent losses. On Topic: My sweet dog most recently watched me compare Blanton's (bottled '99) with Blanton's (bottled '14) with BTEC Hotbox Toasted (bottled '12, IIRC--surprisingly, to me, it was also Mash Bill # 2). kjbeggs
Two very different pours last night.Started off with some spicy OGD114, followed by the last pour from my second bottle of MMCS (just one bottle left, time to pick up a couple). Paul W
PHC8 last night. I swear the taste has changed since the last time, which was when I opened the bottle. I liked it even more this time, though I do miss the spicy aspect that you get in a bourbon which is totally absent from this wheat whiskey. It may be a psychological effect, but it does seem to me that air time in the bottle does affect taste. Mardbrown
A little BT added to a pour of Stagg Jr. brings the proof down to a manageable level and softens the hard edges. Delicious. You should try it.I started with Maker's 46 again tonight and it's hitting all the right notes. I can see this being a regular.Following up again with RHF. This one is blossoming quickly and I'm a step closer to declaring it worth the premium. Still need to do more research before being sure, of course.
