"Should we just do a shot of Jim Beam for old time's sake?"

Well, no. But I did do a shot (actually quite a bit more) of KC figuring it counted as a Beam bourbon because what I really like about this Smart TV thingy is I can watch Justified any damn time I want.

EC12 to start and now Bowman Brothers SmB I'm going to work through this bottle and then stick with the JJBOWMAN Single Barrel since I like it so much better

Makers Mark Cask Strength. This is my first try. Very tasty, clearly Makers Mark, has a lot of dried fruit flavor (like apricots and dates) and the burn is way more than I expected for 111 proof.

more of this, since I generally only keep a few open at a time.

I finally ran into some of the new Bernhiem Wheat Whiskey age stated 7 years. This is way on the opposite end of the spectrum from high rye bourbons. Well actually it's not even bourbon, but close. Try this before anything else in a flight, or even better if you haven't had any whiskey for a day or two. The first pour, I couldn't decide. Second pour, I started to get it. It's mild and subtle at 90 proof: a change of pace.

That's right, it's a Straight Wheat Whiskey, which means it contains at least 51% Winter Wheat.

Started last night with a pour of MWND, then went back to SA VOS 19 I hadn't tried for some time. When I first opened it I thought it was outstanding. About 6 months in I felt it was too oaky - still not bad, just a little too much of that characteristic to rave about it anymore. That was true 2-3 times I tried it, with about half the bottle polished off. It's sat for awhile, had a pour last night and that lumberyard characteristic was totally smoothed out and it tasted fantastic. Back to an A+ pour.

Sun is shining, the Reds are on, and I'm enjoying some WT101...WT is threatening to overtake Four Roses as my go-to.

I used to live in Cincinnati and remain a Reds fan. I so miss having those games on, even as just background noise while doing something else. Hot summer day (or in this case a warm spring day), the ball game on, and some bourbon, is such a quintessential way to pass an afternoon.

Completely agree. I've always loved baseball, and part of it is being able to have the game on as "background noise" as you say, whether on TV or radio, and not necessarily have to be in tune with every pitch. Great times.

CEHT cured oak, maker's CS 111.6, EW Riley's select, Booker's, and McKenna. It's been a good night.
