So back on topic.  Confirmation the bourbon boom is still chugging along in CA was confirmed today when I was surfing a well known wine & liquor purveyor’s website to see what had been recently posted as available for sale.  WT Rare Breed had been listed 5 minutes prior for $49.99, and was already sold out.  No idea of the qty, and I wasn’t intending to buy any.......but still made me say DAMN!

I think it's hard to say how much of the present feeding frenzy is the boom and/or bubble, and how much of it is an excuse to get out of the house.

 

Also, people are drinking a whole lot during this garbage fire of a year.

 

When we get back to "normal", it will be interesting to see if people don't go back to having better things to do than line up for RR picks.

I guess I can understand standing in line for special events or releases within reason.  I just don't get standing in line on a Friday morning because that's when the delivery truck makes its delivery.

But for bourbon lovers seeking that rare bottle of Eagle Rare, the only way to get it may be to line up when the truck arrives. 
 

For being in one of the top four bourbon markets in the country, they sure have shitty availability. Or maybe they’re just a bunch of dorks. We all know RR picks are the only ones worth lining up for (rusluts lol).

We’re a long ways from seeing any sort of positive shift in the availability of anything considered remotely limited in supply.  A small chain here in CA that specializes in wine but also has a healthy liquor selection posted their regular drop of CEHT SmB online as they normally do.  Pre-pandemic, it was a limit of 3 and it would take about half a day to sell out (starting with a qty listed of >48 bottles).  This morning, the same >48 bottles with limit of 3 sold out in less than 20 mins.  That’s been the case for the past 6 months, at least.

 

Luckily, I just happened to go to the site 2 mins after it was posted, and was able to alert @fosmith so he could get some as well.  Crazy how scoring some humble CEHT SmB has me smiling this morning.......

I was reminded today how ridiculous things have gotten by coming across a post on social media. An individual had his house up for sale and someone took a picture of this guy’s bourbon collection during a showing and posted it online for the world to see. Another member asked where the house is, and shortly after the owner’s address was posted. The guy has a pretty nice collection, at least a couple hundred bottles I’m guessing. I sure am glad that wasn’t a picture of my stash getting shared with the world (my address included). The lengths certain members of the tater crowd my go to in order to “acquire” a few bottles would concern me.
