It's one thing to run a business, but to take advantage of a certain product you carry that ought to be priced at a much lesser price = not cool. There is a store in Richmond asking $80 for Stagg Jr; I will never be back.

I'd be back. Not for any Stagg Jr though. It's the owner's right to price things so he isn't leaving money on the table, just as it's our right to shop around for the best deals. I personally don't have issues with stores trying to cut flippers out of the equation. No point getting insulted when they try to adjust to the free market forces. We all find what we think are great deals from time to time. I don't begrudge business owners the other side of the coin. JMHO.

That is really well put, KM. I agree with you on every point.

Passed on a ECBP at 52. Decent price just don't need another right now. Trying my best to hold off spending till the fall and drink the stuff I got.

Yeah. Trying to empty my open bottles until Fall rolls around. Hopefully by then the Mrs. won't be as pissed about all of my bottles.

Passed on CEHTBP at either $60 or $70, I forget. Like a few others on here, I am trying to hold off until the Fall. It helps that I have a CEHTBP at home already.

I'm on vacation overseas in London, and passed on a GTS today priced at 350 pounds, which equates to about $567 USD.

I see your point, but almost all other stores in my neck of the woods priced this bourbon at $55-$60...

Blood Oath, no interest.

WT Diamond Ani on sale, still no interest.

JB Distillers Masterpiece some interest, but not enough funds. Ha!

I was in Bloomington and visited their largest liquor store. It had been a while. I think I can find better prices on just about everything closer to my home. The only deal I found was HH made bonds 2 for $25. Everything else mid shelf and up was at least $5 more than South Indy. I did see Old Forester 1870 the first time. I guess $50 is about the going rate. Still a bit much, even though I'm curious.

I see the same thing around here. There are invariably a few shops who are out of step. Let's hope Stagg Jr doesn't become so scarce that the $80 bottles are the only ones left.

I passed up on one @ $80 and waited patiently for 3 weeks looking around; fortunately I got lucky and found 2 for under $60....

I passed on Four Kings Rye for $50, Hibiki 21 for $250, and Yamazaki 18 for $250. Bought a baby Saz for $30.

Passed on a store select SAOS 9 year, 99.8 proof. This is the second store in the Indy area with a store select BP less than 100 proof. The price was fair enough, $59.99. However, I would want to try it before I buy it. I am sure I can but not at the store I was at this evening. The other BP, which I bought at another store, was 98.6 proof and is very good.

Elmer T Lee for $99.99; new store in town and I won't be back. The other two stores I visit on a regular basis sold the ETL for $39.99 (still slightly high).

If that's the one I'm thinking of it's an oak bomb.

Saw the entire CEHT line today but didn't pull the trigger. SmB at $35, SB at $60, and BP at $70.

I passed on a lot of things that just few months ago were significantly cheaper... I saw a SAOS 7 year Rye that was $41.99 last month priced at $49.99. I am willing to bet that it was not a new delivery but something that they had on the shelf and marked up. This is one of my favorite stores. Unfortunately, their prices are creeping up closer to other Indy chains who overprice their bottles.

If I would have seen the CEHT lineup and MMCS for $48.99 (instead of the $64.99 that I saw), I might have brought a few things home.

I opted for some Mount Gay Rum for the wife instead.

wow, those are pretty decent prices. I usually see the SmB for $40-45, SB at $65-70 and BP at $80 (if at all).

Kyle's prices are pretty much the going rate for CEHT in NJ. Anecdotally, SmB goes pretty quickly when it comes around and I stock up at $35; SB can sit around awhile; and BP is obviously rare and goes quickly if and when it comes in stock. To me, the BP is a slam dunk under $70, and the SmB is solid IMO and a compelling buy at $35.

I would go back and get that BP. I love that stuff but can never find it on the shelf, and even if I did find it, there is no way it would be priced at $70.

SmB is now up to $47 here so it's an easy pass for me.
