Doing a little SBS with two exceptional bourbons. The clear winner is......me. Honestly both are very different animals and both very tasty. 1aabb98d5ca50fd2db143f592f282e1b.jpg

Also drank an OBSO I picked up in the GS. One of the two final picks from Jim.

That Four Roses night looks great! I am finishing the evening with PHC POH, and a small pour of Springbank 17 Sherry Cask.

It's a BIB night so far. EWBIB, JB Bonded........still not decided on the follow up. OGDBIB is the likely choice.

Three 100 proof whiskies, all under $20. One of them $13. What a country!

Is that the Fresh Sherry released earlier this year? If so, jelly.

Yes, I bought two bottles to celebrate a promotion at work, and it just so happened when I got the promotion, the Springbank Fresh Sherry 17 y/o was just released! I can point you in the direction of where I found it in Minneapolis, if you're interested, I believe they still have 3 or so bottles. I am enjoying the bottle a lot now, but it's taken a lot of air time, now the bottle is about 2/3 full, and it's much better. Honestly, I may still prefer Springbank 12 CS, or Springbank 15 for regular pours. I actually get more sherry flavor from the Springbank 15! But I knew it was a special bottling, so I picked up two.

Thanks but I had 2. Still have 1 bunkered. It didn't last long. Just trying to put off opening my last one. So good

Drinking some KC last night, on the rocks, which is unusual for me. Going down a little too easy. One more and I definitely would have been over-served. I was walking the line as it was.

Last night, while watching Narcos (if you have netflix, why arent you watching this show?) I opened with Michter's Toasted Barrel from last year and then followed it up with this year's Chef's Collaboration. Trying to get rid of the latter to make room for a new open bottle. Its ok, but nothing special.

Was out at an event last evening, and had pours of Knob Creek and Baker's on the rocks, which were just fine. Got home and had a pour of 127.2 EHTBP, and that was better. Just terrific stuff, the newish 129 proof and new 127 proof EHTBP.

Agreed, great show. Enjoyed a bottle of BT SB with a bunch of guys while the Chiefs choked.

Having a little pour from my austin nichols labeled WT80, not bad for an older 80 proofer. Not sure if I will go back for the other 2 bottles or not yet but might consider it.

Eagle rare 10 neat. One of my go to's.

Always a favorite of mine. I have had some super ER10s over the years. I have an unopened bottle waiting for cooler weather. Right now, I am enjoying a few pours of FRSB.

That is some good stuff for sure. I recall doing a SbS of that with standard BT and had a hard time telling the difference but I do have another ER and lots of BT downstairs to revisit the SbS eventually.

I moved on to the fozzy BT114 blends I made the other day: starting with 2:3 of OGD114:BT with a 3:2 mix up next then the older mix in my antique decanter of 1:1 to see if I can pick a favorite. Chances are I will need to do a proper 3 glass SbSbS again later this weekend first out of the gate to really be sure.

I cracked the EWBIB I bought earlier. Very familiar HH profile, but definitely a younger tasting whiskey than HHBIB. I like it, but I'll stick to the 6yr bonded

On the suggestion of an old, long time friend, who put me onto trying a couple of lower shelf entries about a two weeks ago, I have purchased and have had a number of pours from a handle of Colonel Lee Kentucky Bourbon for $14 and a handle of Ancient Age Kentucky Bourbon for $17. I have never tried either before and I am truly amazed at how good they are! The Colonel Lee is soft and smooth with a very nice flavor profile. It reminds me of something but I cannot figure out what. The Ancient Age is a bit sharper and brighter, with a nice hit of cinnamon on the finish.

Have any of you out there tried either or both of these? I would love to hear your thoughts, if you have. Worthy pours, for cheap money, IMHO!
