Westmalle Dubbel with it's refreshing black cherry notes. Lots of people copy the Belgians but they still set the standard. Much to say about this one, all of it good, except the price.

Shiner is my daily brew. Can't go wrong.

To me Shiner Bock is the Evan Williams Black of beers. Always there, dependably good and reasonably priced.

Shiner Bock, DoS Equis Amber and Amber Bock for me. The "craft" brews are saved to add interesting variety.

Shifting color tones I went with Westmalle Trappist Tripel last night. At 9.5 ABV one has to be mindful that a single equals two regular beers in strength but this liquid gold is fine stuff.

Certain Holidays like Thanksgiving bring out my nostalgia and a back to basics mentality, so I'm sittin' out back watching college football on TV with a Budweiser from the bottle.

Afflingem Blond Belgian pale ale, which at 6.80% is a bit more than a single and a bit less than a strong. Fits the style, honeyed malt, Belgian spice and mild yet complex yeast. Best of all is the current holiday price of $11.99 a six pack.

That's what I just finished off. ..

Decided to open up a fancy pumpkin beer tonight - 2015 Avery Rumpkin. I probably should have let it sit for a year or two but it is still mighty tasty, even at 18%!

2015 Bourbon County  Stout (Regular).  Very good but sweeter than I anticipated.

It may balance out a bit as it ages. I had a chance to try all three last week in my Wednesday tasting. The Barleywine is even sweeter (as expected) and the coffee stout was perhaps a bit less. But I am not a big fan of a heavy coffee stout flavor (or coffee in general) so I only kept the regular stout and barleywine to age a bit.

I picked up a six pack of Sweetwater Festive Ale this weekend, and opened my third bottle of it tonight.  Like the first two, this has a massive hit of black licorice that I don't recall being so pronounced in previous years.  I like black licorice, so it's not too troubling for me.  But I could see this being off-putting to some.

Starting off the weekend a bit early with a Wicked Weed Brewing Tyranny Red IPA.  Glad to see WW in Georgia.   Visited their brewpub and Funkatorium in Ashville a couple of months ago, and really enjoyed the experience.

Expedition Stout.  Stouts were my first love in the beer dept, but I was never a huge fan of imperials... until now.  I'll have to go back and retry that Old Rasputin that Squire and a few others recommended.

Dark Horse Plead the Fifth is another good Michigan imperial stout. I'd put it a notch above the Expedition, even.
