Chivas Regal 18. Think the last time I had anything from Chivas was when my brother and I snuck a bottle off my father's bar as kids!

Picked up a Redbreast 12 year CS since St. Patty's is right around the corner. I've had the normal 12 year and the 15 year and think both are great so looking forward to cracking this open.

I was a vodka drinker back in the day thanks to good ole Dad - he'd buy them a case at a time and took forever to go through.  He was opening up bottles of water for years after I went off to college

There was no getting away with it for us.  We were supposedly green for days.  Once we grew to adults, it was one of my Mother's favorite stories to tell.

Finally saw a Laphroaig 18 in a store and it was a reasonable price so it came home with me.

Lagavulin 21/2007 (very lucky find)

Many thanks to my California based mule for helping me fuel my K&L itch.

A couple of modest seasonal choices from Midleton as well as Milsean, the latest Glenmorangie private edition release (I already have the RB21 but it was a good price on sale compared to local prices and I figure it is going to get abused pretty hard this weekend and wanted to be prepared with a back up for future personal enjoyment!). The new Glenmo hasn't shown up in Georgia so far but now that I paid to ship it here it will probably be on the shelves tomorrow...

What started out as a hunt for Springbank 12 CS ended up in finding that plus Springbank 16 Local Barley and Longrow 18 (at a great price). Cheers all!

Springbank 21 Rum Finish - Springbank is my fav and this is really unique

Cadenheads Caol Ila 31 year 1984/2015 - never had a seriously aged Caol Ila so I took a stab with this one

Bowmore 23 Port Cask - this one was on sale for like 70% off at Binnys - couldn't believe my eyes.  I've had this one before and really enjoyed it so I snatched up a bottle without hesitation.  This will be cracked open tonight and if it's as good as I remember, I may go back for more.

I picked up another Talisker 10 today, one of my favorites.  TW&M has their Grangestone 12 back in stock, I think it's a totally different product from the last bottling.  Try before buying!

Does Total Wine have opened whisky to sample?

Yes, but it is usually only the brands they have a special deal with or it's a private label (NDP) like Grangestone and Shieldaig that they are pushing.  It never hurts to ask if they have an open bottle. I usually try to build a relationship with a couple of the knowledgeable staff if the store has any.

I did luck out and get a taste of the Russell's Reserve Single Barrell (selected for/by TW&M)  it was very nice.

So how was that Caol Ila and Bowmore 23 Port Cask? The Bowmore 16 port cask that a fellow SBer turned me on to is one of my all time favorites but I never could quite pull the trigger on the 23yo. Apparently the sale worked as it seems to be gone now!

The port cask is fantastic!  I had it originally last year in a premium advent calendar and it was the best of the entire bunch.  Around that time, Mrs Jvd99 bought me a bottle (on sale, but not as good of a sale) but its been sitting in the bunker for a while.  When I saw the new sale there was no hesitation and one came home and was opened immediately and it was as good as I remember. For the price, it was a great purchase.  PM if you want me to physically check that its not all gone.  I'll bet that my shop still has some.

Taxes are going up for alcohol in Louisiana, so I picked up a Talisker 1985 that's been hanging out for a couple years on the shelf.

I picked up a new scotch today. Just sitting down to enjoy it. Yup. I'm really enjoying it. It is called Smokehead Islay Single malt whisky.. quite tasty stuff.

Cheers sb.

I think I just found my goto scotch. This Smokehead is reasonably-priced. I don't know much about it yet. I know it's already evaporating quickly. The flavour profile. Is smoky yet..... seems to be a nice casual sipper. I'm already on my third, but I will have to curve my temptations for a fourth. Anyone have any info on the scotch...?

The name is Smokehead. It is an islay single malt scotch.

Wound up buying a back-up 2015 CB Flaming Heart.  Just to spare a random shopper from stumbling upon it by mistake ;)

Picked up a local chain's Arran Malt private cask bottling yesterday. 17-year old cask strength single malt aged in a sherry hogshead for $99? I've tasted this bottling before, and the answer is yes, please.

Is it really worth the 150.00+ price tag?
