Picked up a Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon for $79. 99.  A friend gave me the second to last pour from an open bottle and I really enjoyed it.  Looking forward to exploring this bottle over some time.

Henry McKenna BIB, $28+tx for a 750ml bottle over in Lansing, KS. I decided to try a bottle based on the positive statements I've read on SB. Well, they were right, this is some tasty stuff, something like an Evan Williams SB that spent time getting muscled up to 100 prroof. Definitely worth buying again.

I walked in to a store looking for nothing in particular. Saw some Elijah Craig and checked if it was still 12 years or if it was the new NAS bottle just out of curiosity. When I saw it still had the age on it, I decided to purchase it on a whim. I already have a few stashed away but figured another couldn't hurt. I blame SB for developing that attitude.

I was in Brooklyn for the NCAA Tournament last week and managed to come across a bottle of CEHTBP, Batch 4 on the shelf for what I thought was a good enough price to pull the trigger, since I haven't seen a bottle on the shelf in forever.  I snagged it up, along with a bottle of EWSB '04 to drink while I was in town.  The store owner was awesome.  I mentioned that I was looking for a HWMWND, but had never actually tried it, so he brought out his personal bottle and let me try it.

In New Orleans visiting my sister. The most prevalent bargain appears to be baby Saz as cheap as $24 a bottle but I just grabbed 4 at home. I did manage to purchase two CEHTSmB at $36 each for the suitcase.

Where on Earth did you find that. I have one in cellar and I am afraid if I open it I may never find another. You don't have to actually tell me where, just amazed.

He didn't actually have a bottle of HWMWND for sale, unfortunately, but the owner let me try a very small pour from his private bottle that he had in the back.  He did recommend a bottle of "Dad's Hat", which he said was as close as he had been able to find to it.  I tried a pour of Dad's Hat, and it was very good and had similar notes to HWMWND, but was not quite the same.  If I didn't have to worry about fitting it into my checked bag, I might have picked up a bottle, but I was definitely bringing home that CEHTBP, so I left the Dad's Hat on the shelf.

Yeah, I'm definitely grateful for having gotten to even just try it!  One day, I'll come across a bottle and it....shall...be...mine!   :-)

Found a shop in New Orleans with a shelf of Stagg Jr. Batch 4. I like this a lot so grabbed a bottle at $50 to bring home. Most of the shops at home have batch 5, which I've not tried yet.

This is my first post here on this site.  I've been a long time lurker and have enjoyed all of the knowledge I have gained from reading everything SB has to offer.  I was hoping to make a more profound "first post" but since I just picked up a couple of bottles today from my local store, I figured I might as well jump in and share what I bought.  Today I picked up a Russell's Reserve 10 year and a store select Russell's Reserve Single Barrel.  Russell's Reserve is bourbon I have not tried before but have heard good things about and have read some good reviews on.  I plan on doing a side by side tasting and I'm hoping they will be nice additions to my ever growing collection.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Please let us know your thoughts on this purchase.  I have just tasted the single barrel and I love it.  I haven't tasted the 10 yet.

Welcome aboard! Though opinions are always mixed, those are both great choices. Most people here like the Single Barrel, not as many like the 10 year (though I do).

Let us know what you think.

The RR10y90r may have been the bourbon that opened my eyes to bourbon (bought one on clearance for $15).  When I think of bourbon, my mind goes to RR10yr90, the flavor profile is great and epitomizes what bourbon should taste like. Back on thread topic, I picked up a JB12yr.  I figured it is now the only readily available 12 year aged bourbon.  It doesn't get a whole lotta love here, but, maybe it is just being looked over.  What say ye SB?

I have a bottle of the JB12 opened but have not visited it in a while.  I recall it resembling JB Black (now called XA?) but with more oak, which is what one would intuitively expect.  Come to think of it, I never did a legitimate SBS with the JB12, Quarter Cask, and JB SB like I had intended.  I am shirking my bourbon duties, clearly.
