I've moved on to some Bookers from '97. This is a great bourbon, I've had this bottle open for about 2 years. I can't believe it's lasted this long.

Opened up a Bakers a few days ago. I've finally tried all Beam premium releases. So far I think Bookers is my fav.

I'm putting all of this in the bourbon thread but I started with Elmer T. Lee and its smooth wonderful goodness, then moved to JDSB and found it especially bland, so finished the evening with rittenhouse for some spice. Great way to end the night.

A little Old Fitz 12 at the bar next to the office right after work, a little WTKS here at home.

Last night the restaurant had FRYL as their well bourbon . . . had a couple of pours over a big cube and it was quite enjoyable.

I've been drinking something a bit unusual lately.  A while back I received as a gift a bottle of New Holland Beer Barrel Bourbon.  Beer finished in bourbon barrels is well-established; the folks at New Holland have taken a new approach:  they finish bourbon in barrels used to age their Dragon's Milk stout.

The bourbon is aged for "several years" before being finished in the beer barrels (which were themselves originally bourbon barrels).  New Holland has a distillery, but at least originally the bourbon in this product was sourced from MGP.  It's been out for a couple years now so they may at some point transition to their own juice, but as I type this their web site uses the word "sourced".  It's young bourbon, but good young bourbon, and the Dragon's Milk (which is an extremely robust beer) gives it an interesting character.  I was a bit leery originally, but I'm actually enjoying it.

^^ I had to mix my NHBBB with diet vernors to drink it.  It was awful IMO.  I tried vatting it with other things as well and the only way it was tolerable for me was in a mixed drink.

2015 OFBB

It is worth MSRP, but no more than that.

Had to let it open up a bit in the glass.

I am enjoying it though!

Starting the night with a small pour of the OWA:MM46 mix I made this week.  Pretty tasty on it's own when not comparing it to the SB blend.  Next up is a PS WTKS I haven't sampled in some time.  On deck after this is WTRB and KCSiB120.  If I still need a drink after upping the proof to 120 I have a mostly full liter of my bonded JB:EW on the counter or Larceny.

Virgin 101 7 year.  Another great player in the HH stable of offerings on that well-proofed, nicely aged, and economically priced team of bourbons.  They own that space.

Did a side be side of Stagg Jr. batch 3 v. batch 4. I don't have the palate or confidence to do detailed tasting notes like others here, but both my buddy and I preferred batch 4. He found the nose and flavor more complex. I agreed but found them pretty close, however I found the finish on batch 4 to be longer and more enjoyable.

Inspired by fozzy's OWA-MM46 blend, I tried a 2:1 Blanton's and OWA blend.  There was still a surprising amount of pop from the OWA. I liked it, but my palate may have been a little shot from the Stagg Jr. Going to try it again.

Drinking some ETL. I'm about half way through the bottle and it's not really hitting the spot for me. ETL was one of my earliest bourbon purchases when I became an enthusiast and starting branching out. At that time, I loved it. Shortly thereafter, it became the bees knees nationally and you could no longer find it. It's a couple years later now and I'm scratching my head. Did it change? Did I change? I don't know. Could also be single barrel variation I guess. Either way, my unmitigated enthusiasm for this one is now waning.

A small pour of WTKS to cleanse the palate of any left over toothpaste/mouthwash taste before I revisit my old friends BT and OGD114 that I have not hung out with in a couple of months.  I am not a fan of this PS WTKS (my first KS ever) when compared to the almost empty WTRB I have or even any of the WT101 bottles I have had in the past.

Some EWSB and then a small pour of pain 'ol MM.  Both tasted really good - I think it's one of those nights when my palate is just very receptive.  What do you guys think - on a night like that, do you stick with the basics because they'll never taste better, or go top shelf in the hopes you'll have a truly transcendent pour?
