Charlutz
The local distributors must've got a load of OWA in. It's showing up on some websites, but hard to come by at the places that charge retail. I found two bottles at a local store at $37.99. Pass.
Prof_Stack
I passed on splurging for some "historic" American whiskey, 750mL Old Potrero 18th Century (Rye) for $80 before WA state taxes push it to about $100. Perhaps a bar near me has it by the shot.

I was sipping on some Virgin 101 (paid 12.99) when I read this, then decided to pour a whiff of ETL Commemorative to do a SBS, and I actually like the V101 better. Go figure. SebastianLloyd
I keep on staring at the Mitchers and never fully get around to buying one. I took a look at the bourbon and it looked freakishly clear, like Brita water if it was light brown.

PaulO
I passed on Weller SR @ $19.99. It's not really my thing. It would be nice if Antique or 12 showed up.
KyleCBreese
Passed on the new batches of Barterhouse and Forged Oak. Bottle numbers well over 100k for the "rare" Barterhouse. There was lots of Gifted Horse too. The OB's seem to be sitting on the shelf much longer around here.
jp_stargazer
My wife wanted some green St. Patrick's Day wine (interesting) and a new bottle of peach schnapps for her fuzzy navels, so we went to a local store. I think she helped with my willpower because I passed on Ezra B 12 for $40 and a new shipment of OWA for $22. I enjoy the Ezra B 12 and I know it's being discontinued but for that money I can get things I enjoy more. I have 4-5 bottles of OWA in the bunker (including a Binny's store pick) so I will continue to drink those. Hopefully now that people like me are seeing it more often and bunkering less of it, it will be regularly available once I finish the bottles I have in a couple years. I'm practicing not whiskey just because they are allocated, rare, limited, soon to be discontinued, on sale, etc. but because I REALLY like it. jp_stargazer
I stopped by another shop, hoping the OWA arrival in town meant I could find some Weller 12. No dice there. I noticed they had 3 bottles of Yellowstone 2015 Limited Edition (the black tube, 105 proof) for $110. I looked over some reviews, weighed the cost, and decided to pass. I then went home and vatted my own blend trying to match Yellowstone's 12 year bourbon, 7 year rye, and 7 year wheated bourbon (1:1:1 of Ezra B SB, Rittenhouse BIB, Old Fitz BIB since Heaven Hill is often Luxco's source) which came out to ~100 proof, similar to the target whiskey. I didn't really let it mingle but I liked it, lot of flavors going on. Might try a larger vatting next time, vary the ratios, and really let it settle. miller542
While picking up 6 bottles of Session Golden today, I passed on all things bourbon. We're moving next month and the current opens + bunker is already enough to move let alone any new additions between now and then. Particularly difficult to pass was the new 1792 Single Barrel. KyleCBreese
Passed on Stagg Jr. I bought the first batch when it originally came out, but haven't bought it since. The store has batches of 128.7 and 129.7 proof. Not sure what batches those are. I went in for ECBP, but I might go back for the Stagg Jr.

miller542
Broke down and picked up a Russell's Reserve Single Barrel. But I was good, I passed on Gifted Horse, Barterhouse, Stagg Jr, Jim Beam Distiller's Masterpiece, and 1792 Single Barrel in addition to all the regularly scheduled programming. tanstaafl2
Saw a bottle of Yellowstone "Select" 93 proof bourbon, the follow up to the previous "Limited Edition" bottling. A blend of 4 and 7yo Luxco stock which presumably means HH. I presume if it is the same distillery it doesn't have to be called a blend of straight whiskey? Who thinks it is probably more 4 year old than 7 year old whiskey??? That would be me. $50 retail. I passed. Looking forward to trying the whiskey they're making when it's ready, but the pricing on the sourced stuff is a little salty.
