Oh hell, I'll buy this one, too...
Yeah you and me both,I may bitch and complain but I also have the will power of a three year old.:lol:I'll end up with a WT as well and I have such low expectations who knows I may just be pleasantly surprised with both.

It's who we are, it's what we do .

 We're not sayin' we're right, but it's as good an Ethos as any!

I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

That'd make a good Tshirt for most of us here:

BOURBON: It's who we are, it's what we do! :)

Cam, The slogan is credited to Squire who came up with it in another thread...and yes it would make a great one...that some of us would have to wear at times with some discretion ;).

My original thought behind this thread...Face it, we're Bourbon Geeks, it's what we are, it's what we do.

I stand impeached . Correct language credited to Squire...it's what we are, it's what we do. I was writing from memory, before checking back to the source, just like those big time journalists .

A prime example of the need for the heresay rule...and I was using it to prove the truth of the matter asserted .

Based on what I've read thus far, I stand by my "try before I buy" strategy. This strategy will hold firmly in place . . . until I see one before I've had a chance to try one and lose my @#$% mind :)

Unfortunately, in today's market, you have to buy now, evaluate after. Luckily, you have the BX to resolve any buyer's remorse.

From what I've heard it's where you go to get a prostate exam. I certainly haven't heard of anyone being treated fairly there.

Actually, you have friends here on SB to take care of that buyers remorse.

Read yet another review of this today and it was not even remotely positive. Same story: huge alcohol sting, no complexity, only riding the Stagg name.

(EDIT: Also said ECBP in the buy this, not that section.)

Wonder what they are saying over at BT? They have to have known this was going to grab enthusiast attention first, given the rep of GTS and its limited availability. Coming to a discount bin near you ...

I expect they're rushing to get the distributor's checks deposited before someone changes their mind.

I'm assuming most folks will react to the buzz and may assume the "sting" has to do with barrel proof and nothing more. I know one of the first Willett FE picks i had, wasn't paying attention and missed the 67% ABV. Damn near spit out the first pour, and even with ice/water not sure i could really get it to a proof that made it shine. And that bottle didn't have cool horns on it!

I did read one review where the guy spoke of always adding water to his high test stuff. No offense meant by this but I pretty much tuned out after that. I personally believe the BP stuff in the top tier is meant to be enjoyed by folks who like the straight stuff neat or nearly so. Again, personal opinion so no offense meant to anyone. That said, the latest review I referenced above compared GTS Jr with Sr and the reviewer said he always enjoyed Sr neat. He still whinged about the alcohol sting so I think folks are finding Jr tall on proof and short on everything else.

Yes, Stagg Jr. big and bold like the original George T. Stagg, but it is harsher and more aggressive (with the spice and oak notes) than George T. Stagg. I just don’t enjoy it.

Just as soon John hadn't mentioned the new FRSmB. I know it has to happen but it is not like we need to give the damned flippers any more reason to hoard it all.

Or amplify the buyer's remorse, nothing like paying 4x retail for a bottle you hate!
