That is definitely a very shiny object, but too expensive to distract me even at retail. I just can't fathom spending that kind of money on something to drink no matter what my bank account size is, but to each his own, and obviously you wanted it and found it at retail, so congrats to you sir!

So what would you spend your money on then? I spend the money cause I can and it's doesn't bother me to have something a part of whiskey history.

No disrespect to Jeremy but I bet DFCFan was more excited when he got his bottle of OWA. He's been on here for weeks hunting for a OWA. I was almost ready to PM him to offer to send him a bottle at costs.

Thanks to a fellow SBer was able to help him help a friend move some excess bottles at retail. Thanks again. RY10 from last years batch, a bottle of W12 and a store barrel of BT.

Also per a lot recommendations from folks on the what did you pass thread purchased a bottle of 1792 full proof.

Where are you guys from? Pretty easy to find in Nor-Cal and it's pretty inexpensive.

I'm in Houston you can't walk into a random store and get it but it can be found with a little searching. DFCFan is in Virginia and there along with most places including Kentucky it's very difficult to find.

In St. Louis I find it about once a year at its retail price. Its usually gone in a day at any store that gets it and sells at retail. A few stores have it most of the year but they want $60-$100 for it.

I understand your position on this, and you should do what you want with your money. I was just saying that I'm not wired that way and not willing to do that with my money. I'm a bean counter by profession, and an investor, so I try to limit my spending on depreciating assets, consumables and entertainment...not because I have to, but because it's part of how I got to where I am today. I generally don't buy new cars either, but buy gently used ones at less than half of original retail.

If there was a definitive way to buy and resell whiskey, I might be willing to "invest" in the very shiny objects that we would all like to have. While many do resell some of their bourbon, scotch, wine, etc., I'm not comfortable with doing that at this time. So, I try to be satisfied with the many less shiny objects that I can find for more modest sums. Now, I'd love to have that bottle you bought for maybe 20% of the suggested retail price, but that's not the market we are in today, so I'll just have to be satisfied with the occasional younger limited edition releases.

I hope you enjoy that bottle when you get around to opening it...maybe for a special occasion! Cheers!
