lcpfratn
I bought a Private Select Makers 46 Cask Strength for $59.99. All 10 staves were chosen from the 46 lot (toasted French Oak). The retailer claims this is the first ever Maker's 46 Private Select Cask Strength. I don't know about that but it is my first MM46CS. I am not a fan of MM46 at its price point but I do enjoy MMCS compared to MM and I enjoyed the one Maker's Private Select that I bought. I am hopeful I will find this bottle equally enjoyable. FMM has actually changed MMCS to be part of the Private Select Cask Strength series. The back label has a Maker's 46 check box as one of the stave selections and all 10 staves are included on that line. I bought one at the gift shop a few weeks ago at a much higher price than you paid. I wish a local store would do a private select, but I think the nearest store that has done one is 3 hours away. Which Binny's did you stop by? I went a different route home from work today to stop by the one off Touhy. I've had good luck there in the past. The RHF I got lucky and stumbled across it at retail a little while ago as well at a smaller shop. Same boat here. Working on a Old Bardstown 90 proof (new one distilled by Willet) and Yippe Kai Yay before opening. I had a very circuitous route out of the way and hit the Binny's Lincoln Park on a whim. The store off Touhy is pretty good. I hit that one periodically.
elmossle
So I walked in to one of the local ABC stores in town and was told the manager had a surprise for me. They had been holding a bottle of CEHT Four Grain for me for almost 2 weeks now! Not sure why they didn't just call me but it was a very pleasant surprise to say the least. I had been told that it had come and gone in the state they just weren't going to get any which was fine with me. MAde my day and week that much brighter and they were very happy by my reaction. It pays to treat people well as they will do the same to you that is for sure.

lcpfratn
Do they still bottle the regular MMCS, or is it all part of the Private Select series now? Yes, the regular MMCS is still bottled like it has been, but they no longer bottle the M46CS the way they were. Sorry for the confusion above using the wrong abbreviation. I was looking for the M46CS in the gift shop and finally just asked for it, and they told me that they had made it part of the Private Select series. It is also described as the Bill Samuels, Jr. selection on the front of the bottle along with the Maker's 46 box checked on the back. The price at the gift shop for the Private Selection series is $79, and they have a sign that says they intentionally price the bottles to not compete with their local retail stores. I'm sure the MMCS isn't priced competitively at the gift shop either, but I don't remember the price. I don't think their gift shop pricing policy is any different than the other distilleries that I visited, but that was the first time I noticed a pricing policy posted. M1marksman
Someone once said "Even a blind dog finds a bone now and then". I found this 12 year old giant surrounded by it's NAS siblings. I jokingly tried to get the cashier to discount it because the front label has some damage on it. He laughed and said he should charge me more because of what's inside the bottle. Barrel Aged Buckeye
Been stopping at two different stores to see if Ohio will be getting any of the E.H. Taylor 4 grain. No dice so far but I picked up these two today and a BT yesterday. What does everyone think of the beam double oak? I let the wife pick my second bottle and that's what she picked. The ORVW25 is such a specialty/collectible, I've got no problem with how a store chooses to sell it.

I tend to agree, but I don't think the 20, or 23 yo pappy releases are much bigger...It's also fair to assume there are a lot more friends and family asking for a $30 Weller 12 than a $1400 P25

Skinsfan1311
Not a huge fan of most Bulleit whiskey, but I love the rye. The Bulleit "Woody Wagon" was at one of our local liquor stores. I snagged a bottle of the rye, and they gave me a couple of Lewis bags, a mint julep cup, a t-shirt and a 10% discount on the bottle. Not a bad haul for $24.00! Very nice! I find the maps on the backs of the bottles interesting. I'd also like to know who gives the barrels their names. Knob Creek, one of my personal favorites.
