And looks like the CEHT BP has dropped in Chicagoland. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend...

Went back to my favorite (only) retailer for yet another 1792 FP (private pick).      This is a very nice bottle!     I may have to score another couple of 'em before they run out.

In lovely Nashville, found some Sazerac and some Old Charter and my buddy Alex treated himself to his first bottle of Rare Breed.

Don't take this personally, but it does show how the bottles really get distributed to the end costumer...

1 sold at cost to a close family friend
1 sold at inflated price to someone willing to pay a very inflated price
1 unknown

I do not blame your friend at all for selling it at $14k, and I don't resent you at all for benefiting from the friendship.

Pays to have family in the right place for sure.

Awesome Jeremy!  I love that you opened it.  Probably the only pic we'll ever see of one open.  Can't wait to hear how it tastes.

This is what I got from them
Old Rip 25yr
Nose:Vermont maple, Cuban cigar, rich leather, pie crust, Ceylon cinnamon sticks, coriander

Palate: silky mouth feel, amazing depth, bourbon barrel aged honey, a very rich oaky corn, grilled peaches
It's really nice whiskey...

Hirsch 16yr

Nose: sweet oak, rye fields, cinnamon, clove, cigar paper, rich raw honey notes

Palate: sweet corn, sour mash notes, lots of cinnamon and clove, star anise

Bought two bottles of Henry McKenna 10 BiB.  It's on sale here in Oregon, so I thought it was a good time to stock up.

Interesting photos. I am not sure what I am looking at in the background of the first one.  The second one makes me think you must have had a police escort to the liquor store.

Picked up two ECBP 136 proof last night. New releases get to us last so we still have this one on the shelves - haven't seen the A117 (or whatever it is) batch yet, but given the mixed reviews, I'm stocking up on the 136 proof release since I know it's great.

Found an Old Forester Single Barrel PS bottled at 90 proof. I'd never seen one and they had a bottle open to sample. Pretty good stuff, so I had to take a bottle home with me.

I have been cigarette free for over a month now, so my wife bought me a congratulatory gift. First bottle I have seen of this.

Congratulations. It's been almost 2 years for me. Wasn't easy but was one of the best things I have done for myself.

Congratulations on an important accomplishment and milestone.  One day, one month at a time.  Also, congratulations on a supportive wife.  It is a very nice gift!

Good for you!!!     My sincere congratulations.     Stick with it!

The hardest thing I ever managed to accomplish was quitting smoking cigarettes.

For me that was a very long time ago... More than 25-years; but after smoking 'something' ...cigars, pipes (which I thoroughly enjoyed), and mainly cigarettes for more than 25-years, and trying to quit about a dozen times over a period of about 6-years.    The only things that helped me finally do it were...1) being a stubborn sonuvabitch, 2) drinking copious amounts of water for about the first 8-weex, and 3) cutting waaaay down on coffee.

The mental trick that helped me was making the decision that I WOULD NOT LIGHT UP JUST THE NEXT ONE (never considered more than that... too scary!).

I finally stopped having the craving "all the time" after about 3-months.      It took many more years before I lost the crave entirely.      And to this day, I still have "smoking dreams" once in a great while.    Bourbon helps now!     ...It didn't in those days.     It only made me want a cigarette more whenever I had a pour.    Thank Almighty God that doesn't happen any more.    HA!

Thanks everyone for the support, I figured that my taste buds will get back to normal and I will be able to enjoy bourbon even more .

You'll enjoy everything more!

I smoked for years; gave it up in the 1990s.  I remember when I thought the price over $1.25 a pack for name brand cigs was too much.

Later, I met the girl that became my wife.  She told me she wouldn't have dated a smoker.  Her dad used to chain smoke, fill their whole house with smoke.  She couldn't stand it.  Now she counsels people that want to quit as part of her job.

My advice: don't buy any, or bum them off your friends.  It gets easier.

And look at all the extra money you'll have to spend on your other vices - such as bourbon. :D

Personally I would love to try the ORVW 25yo blind with a couple of other bourbons to compare it to. Maybe another wheated like the Jefferson 17/18 or one the early 19yo Wellers and perhaps an older rye bourbon like the 2nd Edition 27yo PHC just to see if I could really discern a big difference in the whiskey (it could happen!) or if I would mostly be paying for the cachet/novelty.

Not going to happen of course but one can dream!

They would all be so different and there would be no comparison....they're all worth the money in my opinion

I was doing some store hopping today looking for the current ECBP if pricing was right, and I found three new bottles on the shelf. The price was $69, which was consistent with their pricing last year, so I decided to pick one up. I was concerned that pricing had risen when I passed on a bottle at another store priced at $79 a few days back, but looks like the other store was just up-charging like they are known for. The story doesn't end there though. While I was holding the bottle of ECBP and looking at some other top shelf stuff, the manager came up to me with two CEHT tubes and said these just came in if you're interested...one bottle of 4 grain and one bottle of barrel proof. The price of $77.99 was a bit above what I think suggested retail is, but I've never been able to find the barrel proof before, and obviously the 4 grain is new and scarce. Needless to say, three bottles came home with me. emoji106.png

Great lcpfratn! I need to get around more. My store has pushed up prices on all the allocated stuff. Got a call about a particular brand and got hammered when I paid. I like the LS overall but I'm going to have to set limits.

And yet I would still like to try!  I am stubborn that way. B)

In fact I already have the other three. But not ever likely to have the ORVW25, even at $1350, much less $14K!

My daughter brought me back this from New Orleans. I didn't even know it came in handles. It was cheaper than the 750 is here if you can even find it.

She also brought back about 10 pounds of crawfish!
