I actually like this way of doing business gives more a chance of getting a bottle.

This is how the total wine that I frequent does it. Alotment stuff goes in the lock box, i item per person out of the box.

Is this a display box or hidden behind the counter?

It is in the bourbon section. When they have multiple honey bottles, I text Mrs Mako exact instructions on what to ask for and she will take an early lunch.

Grabbed another OF1920 for the bunker today... It's a favorite and you can really never have too many backups of your favorite selections!

Found a couple dusties today...and couldn't pass up the new barrel ages series from founders. Although it should be interesting considering it's an imperial malt liquor9e7a0e759834195c8ee0b717799d5f9f.jpg

^nice job on the 10 I recall that being 86 vs 80 proof.

You are correct. I mentioned to the clerk that you can't find the oc 8yr stated anymore and he reached under the counter and pulled the 10yr out and said "it's even harder to find these ones".

Very nice my only complaint with the OC8yr is the proof, would love to get my hands on some 86 or really love to get the 90 12 yr.

Where is their gift shop located? Is it in Kentucky?

OKI is sourced MGP bourbon sold by New Riff, which is just over the river from Cincinnati and shares a parking lot with The Party Source. New Riff does a great job of picking barrels and has been a nice source for quality MGP stuff as SAOS gets harder to find.

They make a small batch (3 barrels or so), a single barrel at cask strength, an antique barrel finished bourbon, and also a cask strength sherry/brandy finished bourbon. I've had all of them and they are all good. The only place I've seen the single barrels is at the gift shop. I have 3 of them and the one that's currently open is fantastic. The small batch release is available in many places around KY including Liquor Barn, but I've only seen the antique finish and sherry finished ones in a few places and not recently. I am not sure if those are still available. They told me a new batch of the sherry finished is currently finishing in the barrel. Not sure when it will be done, or if it's another first-fill or second fill. The bottle I have has a pretty strong sherry influence.

So if you like the small batch (or for those that like SAOS or Belle Meade or MGP stuff in general), OKI is worth checking out. They do a nice tour at New Riff too.

Saw a 2017 Parkers Heritage 11 for $129. I've spent so much on whisky lately, I almost passed. ...almost. Figured I was lucky since it showed up at a LS that usually doesn't get limited editions. Had to have it.

You made a very wise choice. I had this right out of the barrel back in June. Fantastic stuff.

I went to a very nice Knob's Creek 25th Anniversary tasting yesterday. The whiskey was excellent. I wasn't sure it was worth three times the cost of a barrel select 120 proof, so I passed on it.

However, the store I was at was offering a very nice four set "flight" of Elijah Craig, aged at 8, 10, 11, and 12 years per bottle. The offering was barrel select and seemed to be a steal at 139 bucks. I walked out with a box under my arm.

I also picked up another couple bottle of Virginia Distillery Highland Malt. It is not a bourbon, but it one fine whisky and nice change of pace.

Had the DKML on tap in northern MI back in August. Its very good. Because its a malt liquor, the flavor in light, leaving the bourbon barrel as the biggest note. The abv is big as well, so it will put a snap in your shorts.

I have a four pack of it.  Only had 1 so far. It's...."interesting".  So far its the only Founder's product I've had that I didn't love.  I believe its a high corn adjunct so it really has that sweet corn flavor.  Yeah the alcohol hit is pretty high.  After all, DKML reportedly stands for Dick Kicker Malt Liquor.

Sorry to derail this into beer territory.

When i got home, I made sure to read the Parker's Heritage thread and I saw your old comments on that tasting. Definitely made me feel more confident in my decision.

Nice I would buy a couple at that price if I could and at the moment I have 9 bottles of various batches.

Snagged a couple EC12 with the statement on the back. They had several of them, I only brought 2 home. My bunker is growing much to fast. If I could get my retirement accounts to grow at the same rate as my bunker I would be very close to retired!!

Um, want to trade wives for a day or two?  46 years of marriage, and mine STILL laughs at me when I say, "Can you go back in there and pick up another one of these (pointing at the bottle I just bought) for me?"

ON MY OWN, though, yesterday on a road trip to and from Baltimore, I stopped in a couple stores in Ellicott City, MD, to check on store picks advertised online.  I picked up a store pick MM BP at the front and then browsed the middle and upper shelves in the the back of the store (prices generally were MSRP).  I spotted a single RHF on the very top shelf and while waiting for some guy to get a ladder and fetch it, I espied Old Ezra 101 7yr on the very bottom shelf.  I just love the mushroom, musty, campfire charcoal soot taste of the OE 101 7yr.  Gotta say - it is a toss-up: OE101 7yr OR RHF?  WHICH ONE will be empty first????

Old Ezra is not one I've had but I do like HH stuff.

I cant get enough rock hill farms right now. I get this candied cherries/ almost like a cherry sno-cone thing. Good stuff.

Not a bourbon but I’m only posting here.

A JD SB barrel strength ( they’ve changed the barrel proof into barrel strength for the European market I guess )

This bottle comes form a selection by LMDW, paid €85 for this, not so bad. I’ve really enjoyed my first bottle of JD SB BP that I’ve paid much than that a year ago.
