Having some CBS tonight. This is my first time with this one, it's pretty good.  Can definitely taste the maple.  My only drawback is I wish they would come in a 12 ounce bottle, it's just too much to drink at one time.

Just pretend it's a Guyanese Rum...  :D

Even the oddest rum doesn't sound quite that funky! Smoke I get as long as it isn't just plain rancid! But gritty just doesn't do much for me. I try to keep dirt out of both my rum and my beer! And pretty much everything else...

Still minus a kitchen so my glassware is lacking but having some Prairie Christmas Bomb while trimming my Christmas tree.

Nice Christmas spices, doesn't taste like the 13% ABV.

The release date was on Friday.  I thought it hit everywhere on 12/1.

^ That certainly looks nicer than the last Stout you opened.

Much better. Taste like a stout should.

DKML, this seemed gimmicky but works quite well. I think I like it more than Doom.

I definitely didn't like DKML more than Doom.  Its probably the first Founder's product I don't care for. I have at least 2 more bottles.

I liked both but I think the malt allows a lot more of the barrel flavor to come through, thought it was interesting, not for everyone. Doom was good but tasted like a high abv IPA, nothing special.

I thought the good thing about Doom was that the barrel influence really smoothed out the hops bitterness typically found in high abv IPAs.  I'm not normally a fan of them..but I was of Doom.  But..like you said..not for everyone.

Actually your right it was a lot less hoppy from due to the barrel aging. I guess that I like the hoppiness of IPAs.

I didnt care much for the DKML.  Havent had the Doom yet

I decided to open up one of these BCBS.  Surprisingly it says on the label it is able to age up to 5 years in the bottle.  Probably should let the other one age for a bit.  Not something I would want every day

I have cut way back on the beer (to focus on drinking liquor!) but having never tried this I could not pass up the opportunity to get one when it was offered. Not much for coffee flavor but hopefully the maple will help balance that. Apparently a lot more was available than in past years at least in Georgia. Hopefully that doesn't impact the quality. Wonder what role its partial sale to a Spanish company beer company a few years ago might have had on Founders? Improved distribution for one thing I suppose.

I just read where Backwoods Bastard and Breakfast Stout are going to be available year round starting next year.  Backwoods is one of my favorite beers.

If true I sure hope they can maintain the quality as they presumably begin to expand production.
