Good to pass on "blended" whiskey; unless it says a blend of straight whiskies.  That's something else.

I almost pulled the trigger on this just for kicks.  Almost. Mainly because I'd never seen it or heard of it before, being from California and all.

Ugh ... that stuff is the well whiskey at the country club where my employer holds the Christmas party every year. It's not good. Tastes like vodka with a very faint hint of bourbon.

I agree with Paul and Brian. The blended stuff ain’t that good. You were wise to pass. IIRC, most, if not all of HH’s blended whiskies are a blend of 20% straight bourbon and 80% gns.

Missed my exit on the tollway (not accessible from express lane) and ended up off course so stopped in a few new LS.

Passed on Hancocks as I already have one waiting to be opened and have seen it a bunch recently.

The Costco near me has Knob Creek 25th anniversary for $110 I considered it but decided against the purchase. Has anyone had this bourbon? Thoughts?

I have not tried it, and with the abundance of 12-14 year KC SiB Store picks floating around lately in the $40 range would rather buy 2-3 of those vs the 25th Anniversary.

Those were by exact thoughts. I’m a big fan of the most recent KCSiB bottle I just purchased. I think it’s great stuff. 134.6 proof

The KCSiB you purchased may have come out of the barrel at 134.6 but your bottle was proofed down and bottled at 120 as are all the KCSiB bottles. The 25th Anniversary edition is KCs only barrel proof bourbon offering to date that I am aware of.

And on top of that the proof for the 25th anniversary offerings are in the low to mid 120s so there is a negligible difference.

I just bought a KCSiB store pic that was picked at the distillery and the employee told me the proof was north of 120. I thought they were all bottled at 120 but after I left I started thinking, I know the age is not 9 years like the label says maybe the proof is not as stated too. No way?

No way. It's 120.

Proof was north of 120 before they added water likely.

Decided no on the new Woodford Master’s Batch Proof. I don’t care for Woodford but hadn’t seen one and almost gave it a shot since I do like high proofers.

Cask strength (or high proof) Woodford is really good. Especially if it isn't the pot still whiskey.

Forgive my ignorance, but isn't the non pot still distilled component of Woodford just Old Forester?

No disrespect.  I love me some Old Forester.

Yes, but at a different age and profile. It tastes way better than the pot still distillate as well.

^^^^^^THIS!!!!!!!    (Emphasis mine.)   :o  This is why I just don't bother with Woodford offerings.    They kill the flavor of some perfectly good Bourbon with those pots!

...And, for me at least, FLAVOR (& aroma) are the main reasons to drink the stuff.   ;)

It would be funny if the White Dog was also sourced from MGP

TW had a store pick WP 10 year for $80 and the non store pick 10 year for $75. I didnt look close enough to see if the non pick version was barrel proof. Still seems like a lot of coin for Canadian rye.

I also passed up a Belle Meade Single Barrel store pick with a 10 year age statement for $65, Widow Jane 10 for $65, and some Kentucky Spirit store pick for $45.

The regular WP10 at $75 is a bit much, but $80 is an easy buy for a BP store pick. The one's I've had have been some of the best rye whiskey I've ever had.
