As a turkey fan, I am officially in heaven. I can't stop nosing this stuff.

A glass of 17 GTS while hanging out with my best friend.  He doesn’t like high proof drinks, so more for me.

I have a batch 7 open now. Neat, with water or on the rocks your preference?

I ALWAYS drink everything neat, but this is one I have debated putting a few drops of water in (its pretty hot), but I ultimately decided to stick with it neat.

Had a Belmont Jewel cocktail while waiting for the post. Then enjoyed watching Justify win the Triple Crown while sipping on a BC private pick of 13yr 9mo KC SiB which has become one of my favorite bourbons.

Took a break from the day drinking and am now back with a BC RRSiB pick.

I'm getting one of these next week, a bottle from 1997. Cheers!

I participated in my first blind taste yesterday with some of my most recent purchases. The bourbons used were Eagle Rare, Weller Antique, Russell’s Reserve, and John J Bowman Single Barrel. I’d never had any of these, so it truly was blind. I ranked them as follows:

4. John J Bowman

3. Eagle Rare

2. Russell’s Reserve

1. Weller Antique

I guess that means I have to join the weller fan club now?

It's Weller Sunday. I'm having a nice pour of Joe's 2018 Weller Blend, Batch #3. For pics, check out the Vatting Thread. :D

Haven't had any today (YET) but last night while watching the Martian I opened my recently acquired bottle of RR 6 y.o. Rye and then followed it with a healthy pour of CEHT SmB.  Friday night before the John Prine concert enjoyed a pour of Noah's Mill with dinner and a double OF at the concert.

Foolishly forgot to pack for a trip, so since I was making a purchase anyways (scotch), I picked up a mini Evan Williams which is hitting the spot.

Pretty expensive though, I think it was close to $100 a few years back.

I got lucky and walked into a LS that had them priced the same as the small batch at 39 and he had four of them so I picked them all up and he honored the price.

Did you happen to pick up a couple lottery tickets after your haul? With that luck you go all the way. Congrats!

Started with a freshly cracked Smooth Ambler Big Level. Disappointing. Way too grain forward. Needs two more years at least.

Following with a freshly cracked Woodford Reserve Batch Proof. Now we're talking. Exceptional.

Going to follow with a freshly cracked OF1920 just to see how similar it is to the Batch Proof.

A little parkers heritage 11 with a few drops of water before bed.

Really hitting the spot.

Once again I'm partaking of something different. This Monday, it's a couple of after work pours of Flatboat. It ain't the greatest bourbon in the world, but it doesn't suck either. :)  It is very drinkable, but not a bourbon that I'd reach for as an everyday drinker. This is what I'd call a good "change of pace" bourbon.

Couldn't agree more - not sure if it's generally  overpriced VOB (not bib) or from underwhelming barrels that had been destined for 1792smb - haven't been a smb fan since they dropped the 8yr from 1792RR.  Now the many other varieties of 1792 are a different story (and also obvious contributors to the decline of smb....).

Have had a bottle or two when on sale and wanted as you said a change-up, but not on the must replace list when passing through the Holy Lands next time.

BTW, enjoying some 1792HR at the moment.

I've been drinking a lot of high proof Turkey and 4R private selections of late.  Tonight, I decided to go with some value pours whilst trying to whittle down the open inventory.  I started with a 50/50 JBDO/JBBIB and ended up with a JBDO.  Both really were firing on all cylinders, and both really deserve complementing for bringing a decent level of complexity... especially given the price point (under $20).

Doing a little SBS since I still have some 1920 left and picked up some Signature on-line way back and now just getting to it. The color, pretty close, but the 1920 is darker. The nose is pretty damn close, lots of vanilla, cinnamon, a nod to the 1920. The taste of both is really nice, vanilla, cinnamon, but the 1920 is a couple of notches up on the burn, cinnamon. Might have to see if some more 1920 is around. Also, for the price, still the Signature is worth the price, easily.
