Headed to Cunninghams Creekside after watching my Cardinal's ( U of L) sweep Notre Dame in baseball.  Enjoyed a nice fish sandwich with a pour of KC.  Limited bourbon list but great fish.  At an engagement party for a friends son had some 4R SiB.  Probably have something else later, just haven't decided what yet.

Never flashy, never any frills, never hard to find, yet never disappoints.

I am here to tell you that FRYL out of the freezer is a good thing.

A very good thing.

Love how "thick" it is when pouring.

Have you done this for other bourbons? Would it have a weird effect to barrel proofs?

This is my first freezer bourbon. I've done others in the fridge which is also good - OGDBIB, HH6 BIB, and Beam Bonded.

A barrel proof bourbon would probably get cloudy and have some flock floating around since most of those aren't chill filtered.

If it's not chill filtered it will get cloudy.

Interesting. So those bourbons that have been chill filtered are okay to put in? I can assume that it would taste refreshing.

They are all OK to put in, it's just that the non chill filtered bourbons will have certain oils within them bind together. It's only an appearance issue.

It's why certain brands are chill filtered. The producers are concerned that customers will see their bourbon getting cloudy when it has ice in it and think that something is wrong with it. It's perfectly fine to drink though.

Eddie Russell says that he prefers his Rare Breed from the freezer and it is a barrel proof.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. It's mainly an appearance issue and maybe consistency issue too. Almost like when you put in yogurt in the freezer. I might try it out once with a small sample, just to see what it's like. Especially if Eddie Russell does it too.

Having a BBQ at my friend’s place, brought something good to drink.

Cheers!

Headed to Tybee Island Thursday. Spent most of the afternoon dragging beach stuff out of the shed, cleaning coolers and what not.

Traded some WT samples to another Turkey head. Enjoyed this a little earlier.

Proud to be a Lawrenceburg man.

Definitely hard to top that, 2015 is stellar though. Cheers!

Been a while since I pulled a dram from the 2015 FRLESmB. Damn, the balance of oak, rye spice and vanilla on this bourbon is so well done.

Back to report that I finished off last night with a healthy pour of RR SiB.

OWA 107 Stafford pick. It's got the orange marmalade I typically get with BT products, but with a nice sweetness from the wheat. Tastes like it is NCF too, although I am not certain. Normally I am not too fond of OWA, but this one is not too shabby.

I got a bottle of Elijah Craig small batch today, and it is quite nice. Didn't cost much either really.

Finishing off this bottle, still have one more left.

I'm really enjoying the subtle differences in the Jim Beam Signature Craft offerings.  This one is the Six Row Barley 11 year.
