I did mention a road trip, but the sole purpose was not to find AAA10*

I also wanted some Sheetz coffee!

:)

Wanted to try Jim Beam Distillers Cut but couldn’t find any local. Had to order it through Pennsylvania FWGS store. A month later it arrived and I have to say it is tasting very good to me.

Lol!

Good catch?

Every time we go to Kentucky,  I hit the CVS store, across the street from the hotel and snag some VOB. $8.99. It's our breakfast bourbon. If there's any left, I duct tape the lid, wrap it in dirty clothes, and stick it in the suitcase. I can't bear to leave any bourbon behind, even the cheap stuff!

Nice.

VOB might be budget priced, but it’s a favorite among my friends and I.

Also my regular bar pour in KY, as it’s usually the only reasonably priced option.

Possibly my cheapest trip to Kentucky ever. $11.13 OTD.  Not sure what happened but all my favorite stores had prices that were more expensive than at home. I’ve never actually tried this one before and only one store even had it so what better time to pick it up.

Picked this up today. Really into the label design...and hopefully what's inside.

I picked up this Bird Juice which needs no intro, fabulous IMO.. and this throw back Legacy bottle of JD.. I might need to post that bottle in the “Confession” section lol, but it’ll look nice with my numerous JD bottlings/glassware and again IMO I think it’s a neat looking bottle to boot...

  • Is that EW Master Blend available in stores like Liquor Barn? Two weeks to my Lexington golf trip, so just wondering.

On the way home picked up another bottle of BT 1.75. Glad to find this in the large format.

I don't think so, at least according to the folks at EW in Louisville.

Same here.  We can't get it in MD.

A friend of ours from Kentucky always picks us up a handle of the 90, from the Party Source, when she comes up for football.

The 80 & 90 aren't too hard to find, but I've never seen the 100 at any LS in Kentucky, and I've looked in several, in Lexington and Louisville.

Thanks!

We live in Glen Burnie. If we're ever in Montgomery County, I'll check out.

Jacksonville, FL (ABC) finally received an allocation of Wellers.  Been over 3 or 4 months since I've seen any.  1.75L for $42.

FWIW, a long time ago a member here came up with the term “family sized” to denote handles/1.75’s.  Nice grab on the family sized BT FOP.  ^_^

Thanks! I would say "family size" but I'm the only drinking it, lol! ?

Picked up some EH Taylor small batch. Krogers in Perrysburg Ohio says they get 1 or 2 cases twice a year.

I was in Chicago over the weekend for my daughter's wedding shower ,  and got laid over an extra day because of the snow squalls.    So I went to Binny's --first time ever!   Spent time talking to a knowledgible bourbon geek who turned me on to a gem.

Three bottles were liberated for the trip back east -

1.   George Remus Repeal Reserve,  Series II.    This I've been wanting to try since I first heard of it.   Well-aged MGP blend,  from the folks who make the stuff that everyone else sells.    I loved their first attempt at this,  Metze's Select,  and this is about three years older (10-11 years).   Haven't cracked it yet;  but all I need to find is the perfect excuse.

2.    FEW Italia  Bourbon.    This is a collaboration with the Eataly everything-Italian market in downtown Chi.   It's FEW's  regular bourbon (young but very well made),  finished in Italian wine barrels.    This kept me company during the layover;  quality craft bourbon that benefits well from the wine barrel,   which adds tannic chalkiness to the mouthfeel.

3.   J Henry & Sons  5-year old Wisconsin straight bourbon.    This is the aforementioned gem.    Simply put,  this is the  best craft bourbon I've yet had.   Five years of aging is perfectly respectable,  but the  beauty part is the red seed heirloom corn used,  in a four-grain mashbilll.     It's a sweet treat that can't be beat.   And it's balanced,  so there's a blender's skill that's evident too.
