Picked this one up from the clearance shelf for just under $30 today.   Figured I’d try something new to me.

Was in Charleston SC & Savannah GA all week with my wife celebrating my birthday.  Speaking of wives, I know I actually have the best wife of all the Straight Bourbon guys because she purchased the following items for me for my birthday presents.  I think I'll keep her.

Four Roses print for the bar area and 13 y.o. Old Fitzgerald.

That's the drunk gauge.

When the bottle looks normal it's time for bed.

I went back to the store where I passed on the EHT single barrel earlier, and since they still had one on the shelf it came home with me.

I am so weak.

Picked up Baker's, OGD BiB, and KCSiB today. Staple Day.

I guess the bourbon Karma gods were noticing my humble purchases yesterday because today I received from a call from one of my locals that this was waiting  for me.

BUT... Is it any good?    I've had a few that, old or nearly, that were stellar, a few that were only OK, and have mistakenly bought two that were lousy at 14-years old.   :o

Now I'm cured of that sort of pre-judgement based entirely on age.

I hope it's a good one, and for that price it's certainly a reasonable risk.    Let us know how it is, eh?  ^_^

Magnus specs? I’ve got some really good Dickel bottles and some really great mgp bottles.

The Woman to Whom I'm Related by Marriage drove across the state line into SC and brought this back for me from the Myrtle Beach Costco. I guess this means she still loves me! $70 for the three 375ml bottles. The MM Cask Strength is one of my favorites. As far as I know the 46 Cask Strength is only available at the distillery and I've never seen a Private Select for sale in the state of NC. Can't wait to try those two out.

Same here...I bought an Elijah Craig Small Batch Single Barrel Selection simply because it was almost 12 years old. I figured it had to taste like the old EC12, right? Nope. Bitter, hot, thin, astringent mess. I have an 8yo Barrel that is waaaaay better. But....how do you know until after you buy it??

And this is why buying single barrels is a game of chance(unless you are able to sample it first). The funny thing is that my local WM has been running the regular single barrel about $1 cheaper than the 100pf small batch. They had been out for a week or so and I was tempted to pick one up, so when I was shopping the other day I swung by that aisle and found the shelf stocked with the store pick version and I couldn't resist temptation any longer.

Interested to hear your thoughts on the MMs Jeff. Also, crazy that you found some bottles of the Single Oak Project.

I’ve tried the MM101 recently and it was good. As you’d expect, it’s sort of in between regular MM and MM cask strength. It might be a bit before I open the MM RC6.
