Passed on these due to it being past 10pm on a Sunday in IN. Would have grabbed the EW bib or the EC. Idk what’s in the benchmark 1.75, but it’s marked down from 99.

Passed on a Blantons at $129.99 and a 1792 Bonded at over $50. Also passed on a bottle of Weller special reserve. One store had it at $69.99. That screw cap Weller use to sell for $30 just a short time ago. At $30 a bottle I hear that was a good pour at $70 that's just damn crazy. I bought it for $20 and even that was a stretch. It's not bad, just not worth the hype.
Clay34
I think a lot of the hype is driving the market. If I was a bourbon seller, I might rejoice. Being a buyer, the taters (term might be applicable to me by the way) are just driving up prices silly. I've only been hunting bourbon about a year. I had a conversation with the LS owner over the Weller. Quote: I'm not paying $70 for a good $30 bourbon. I think pricing is very relative. What do I get for what price. While this might be a grand $30 bourbon when you now want $70 for it, it's no longer a good $70 bourbon. Bluntly I've spent a couple of bucks this week putting bottles in the cabinet. I found a value pour tonight that I have seen before: Fighting Cock. It was $16.99 for a 750. Guess what? It's nice for $17, but some writer says that it is the lately greatest and it the price soars and then it's over $40, then it's not a good deal anymore. I'll sip my $17 bourbon tonight at 103 proof and be be happy. Last night it was Rare Breed. What can I enjoy at what price. Love some high dollar high proof stuff but is a good 750 ml really worth 3 times a Wild Turkey 101 handle? Or a OF100 handle? I do enjoy having different bottles in the cabinet, but I could be a very happy man with about a half doz different products.
PhantomLamb
Amen to most everything but for me personally at $43 OTD in PA, WTRB is worth it every time.

They started distilling in 2016, so a fairly young product and that 2016 on the label might indicate when it was distilled, or maybe it is just identifying the year they were founded. If the latter were the case it could be younger, and I know their first releases were at 2 years. Interesting mashbill, and at least they do use full sized barrels. BottledInBond
I haven’t been into stores super regularly lately but went to one today and passed on everything. They had just gotten a BT delivery apparently so they had BT/ER/Baby Saz, at $25/$35/$32. They had the Little Book 4 at $130 but I still haven’t convinced myself to spring for this one. They also had Dickel BIB for $41. I’m normally not much of a Dickel guy, but I have heard good feedback on these BIBs and this is the first time I’ve seen it in my area. That one was the closest I came to buying anything.
Clay34
I went hunting tonight. 3 stores. I wanted something new, but was running low on WT101, so came home with a 1.75. I went to a store that had the older style of Kentucky Spirit bottle. The fan tail. The bottle was $55 and I passed. Now, I'm wondering if I should have bought it. The bottle design changed in 2019. It's basically a single barrel vs a blend which is the WT101. What says the hive?

I like RR SB over it, 99.9% of the time. but I still bought one of the old bottles when it was on the way out, because it’s cool as hell.
Clay34
Might have to have it in my cabinet too. I'll go back tomorrow and see if it's still there. Small, little, neighborhood store that was out of the way. Must be since it's been sitting on the shelf for over a year and maybe close to 2 years. RR SiB is always a better value. To me WTKS is a $40-$45 bottle. Ive had some that are very good but others that aren't much better than stock WT101. But it is nice to have the fan tail bottle as a decanter down the road.
Jazz June
I'll chime in, in defense of Kentucky Spirit. I'll admit it is probably over-priced, especially compared to RR SiB, but I have had good luck with Kentucky Spirit. I think it is a significant upgrade on the 101. It brings more oak, but also more finesse than the 101. Nicely balanced and rich, a heckuva bourbon. I love the 101, but it can be a bit of a bruiser. I will say that I have not purchased a new bottle of Kentucky Spirit and the move away from the awesome fan tail bottle is a mistake in my opinion.
BigSkyDrams
KO Bourbon batch #9 for $325. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate, but I can's see myself ever paying that much for a bottle of whiskey, regardless of how good it is. Well, at least not until I've paid for my kids' college, paid off my mortgage, and have my retirement accounts flush.

I ran some back-of-the-envelope math earlier and figured I’ve only spent $360 total on bourbon since May, which accounted for 8 different bottles, including some really good ones. Glad to know I’m not off the mark to avoid the KO. However, there was a time I couldn’t imagine spending even $100 on a single bottle, and that barrier has now been crushed several times over, so maybe one day... Clay34
I bought the fantail bottle on Thursday. Haven't opened it yet, but soon. I need another bottle of RRSiB and then do a blind with WT101, the RR and Fantail bottle.
shawnt
THH for $600. Don't know what's worse; that price, or that I'm still trying to talk myself out of it. My inner tater is too strong sometimes.

You could rebuild a bottle from bar pours for less than that-- it's also the easiest BTAC bottle (by far) to find at MSRP.
