The first two are gifts for family members, and the third one is for me. Has anyone tried the Eric Church JD release? If so, how does it compare to normal single barrel - one of my favs.

My day involved a trip to Cleveland, specifically the west 'burbs. I went prepared and had a good idea of what I wanted. But I did stumble into a few bottles I wasn't looking for and was happy to find. Plus I stopped at Culver's for a butter burger, which was icing on the cake. Cool that’s what I figured. I’m assuming Ohio is letting PA residents buy there again? When I went out to St Clairsville two months back they denied me.

I believe OF Sig replaced OF B.I.B. around the year 2000 or a little earlier. The first six years or so it had a diamond label with gold cursive writing on the sides. They changed to what you have (around 2006?). They made these for around six years, then changed to those that Steve found. It changed again a couple years ago to the current white paper label "100 proof". Personally, I think what you found, and the older diamond label OF Sig are a very fine pour indeed. They taste like there is much older whiskey in the batch to me. I once drove an hour each way into Indy's ghetto to pick up several, after a fellow SB member alerted me. Agree. I picked up a diamond label Signature a little over a year ago in a not great part of Memphis. I was only in town a couple of days but couldn't resist for $19 or so. I had a few pours, shared a few pours in the hotel lobby, and then gifted the rest to a client whose husband enjoyed bourbon. I like current OF100 but the diamond label was definitely older, and had loads of that caramel brown sugar note.
Marekv8
Felt sorry for this guy sitting all alone at the small grocery store down the street-- so I took him home. I had passed on this sherry cask finished expression when released, but I found it quite enjoyable last night.

I will absolutely be keeping in touch! When this pandemic is over, the first thing I want to do is get together with other bourbon lovers. I'm really excited to find other like-minded locals who'd be up for some whiskey tastings, and building positive long-term relationships.

Clay34
stopped by Total Wine in Madison, Wi tonight on the way home. I've never seen a bottle of Bakers before, it was on my "to buy list". I then picked up a bourbon that I have never heard of but it was in Fred M's $26 to $40 tastings and it ended up second. Thought that it would be fun to try: Charles Goodnight 100 Proof. I wanted to buy a 1.75 of OF 100, but they didn't have the handle, so I came home with another to complete my OF tastings. I haven't had any of the OF1987 and picked that as my 3rd bottle. I popped the top on the Charles Goodnight and I have a nice smile on my face. Life is good.
Sgtspitter101
Picked up a er10 for 40 bucks, not a steal but a lot better than the 60-100 most places are asking.

There is not much of anything I am buying 6 of unless I have tasted the product and it is fantastic. It's really easy to outpace consumption with buying, but I think once the initial bourbon hunting excitement wears off in a year or so you very well may find yourself with an excess of ho-hum bottles that you feel obligated to work through.
parksmart
Bagged some Wild Turkeys today. The 750ml rye was on sale for $16.97 plus tax, so couldn’t resist picking up a couple. The “mildly dusty” 375ml WT81 was $14.99 plus tax, and are the old label with Austin, Nichols and 81 proof designations on the front. If the laser code on the back of the bottles are to be believed, these were bottled in the year 2011 when WT81 was released to replace the WT80. Gonna meet up with @fosmith soon for a social distancing HH, and the WT81 will be part of the lineup. No I wouldn’t, just had to throw that out there for some stabs. I tried and enjoyed the 2018 Shenks last year. The only things I buy multiple of is things I really enjoy, the price is toooooo good and I’ll consume it over time, Or things my fellow bourbon brothers Can’t get and I trade with them. Currently the on base shop has RR10 at 19.99 and 15% off by the case. Tax free on top of that. So I’ll likely add 6 more to the bunker this week. They also have cases of it sitting there and it doesn’t move well around here. Edited August 25, 2020 by Not_That_Fancy
