Local store had their FP PS on sale for 49.99. Funny as they had some regular FP bottles too...at $75. ?‍♂️

Will open and drink tonight to see if it's worth going back for more.

No more stickers for single barrel eh?

I noticed that post with the 1.75 ER didn't have a sticker, just a neck hanger tag.

Actually funny story about my 750ml ER store pick... It didn’t have a sticker so I asked the manager if it was in fact the store pick and he said every ER in the store was the same store pick and then handed me two stickers, one gold and one silver to put on my bottle.  Makes me second guess the validity of it!

I found this interesting too, and it made me think back to a couple store picks (EC, RR) I picked up down in the city at Astor awhile back, which neither had stickers OR neckbands, just printed out on their store sku stickers that it was a store pick. I asked the manager about this, and he said in NYS, stores aren't allowed to put the stickers on the bottles. Is that true? I'm not sure...but that's what I've been told.

Ugh.  Great.

1.  I don't particularly care for neck tags on a string.  They do nothing but get in the way on my shelf and the 4R ones all get caught on each other.

2.  How long before people start saving these neck tags from Sazerac picks and start selling them, or putting them on regular bottles of ER10, 1792, Weller whatever, Blanton's, etc. just to increase the flippability of said bottle.  Just another way to screw consumers on the secondary markets (not that I'm endorsing any of that nonsense).  All I'm saying is that it's way too easy, and the store picks seems to add a premium sometimes, especially for Eagle Rare and Weller.

Those Sazerac single barrel select stickers are actually very hard to peel off and keep intact.  The sticker usually ends up unusable, and the part of the original label it covers on the bottle usually ends up damaged.

Would love to hear your thoughts on number 2!

It’s good. I wouldn’t say I have that great of a palate but I do get the dark chocolate, oak and the finish is long with a decent amount of spice. I have heard Batch 1 is a lot of red fruit which may have been more up my alley. Not mad at paying 150 for it because it is good and I really like OF but I have a few of the OF BPSP that for 80 were a much better value to me.

Found a Batch 3 and traded it for an EHT BP, so I will see what the better of the two is.

That's the first thought I had.

Appreciate it, thanks. I’ve heard less hype about 2 than I did about 1 and 3. I think that is a good trade nowadays.

PIcked up a MM101 yesterday at Costco for $29.99 +tax.  I'm a fan of Makers, and thought for the price it was certainly worth a try.  I'll break it open tonight.

Went to Total Wine in search of Christmas/Winter beers. Had to stop by the bourbon aisle of course. Came home with another KC12 and an old friend I haven't visited with in a while, OGD 114.

Looking at this picture reminds me how classic the Buffalo Trace packaging is, and how crappy the Weller labeling has become.  It seems that with every change they make to such a dynamic brand as Weller, it becomes less and less attractive.  Not hurting sales, though!  ?

Those metal caps seem like they belong on cheap blended Scotch.  The anchor bottle with age statement was the best for SR and OWA.

Yes, our new Binny’s is finally open.  It opened up back on October 30th.  I met Galvin0791 there after work that day.  I bought three bottles then, and a couple more bottles today. Today’s came with a free tshirt. ?

I went in search of  a replacement for my almost-expired Dickel BIB today,   but came up empty.    I'm cool,  though,  because I brought back a Dickel Barrel Select at a very fair price of 36 bucks.    I'd forgotten how good this is,  as a lower-proof sipper.   The quintessential mellow pour,   I taste far less of the vitamin note than on the Dickel BIB,  and instead get a near-perfect balance of sweet corn and vanilla.

Dickel's an odd duck,  but in a good way.   It's not so much the vitamin note but the mashbill -  over 80 percent corn - and the maple filtering that takes place before barrelling.    I can think of few pours more suitable for a quiet night of stars at four in the morning.   The Barrel Select's supposed to be their curated top of the line,  decade-plus barrels in tiny batches.   It doesn't pack the punch of the BIB,   but strikes me as more refined and balanced from nose to finish.    For those seeking serenity,   this is that ticket to paradise.

Thanks for sharing!   Also would love to hear about number 3.    I have enjoyed number 1, but am wondering if there is enough nuance between the 3 to buy all 3 - if that makes any sense.

Jason from the YouTube channel Mash and Drum has a great breakdown of the 3... He is pretty good at hitting on notes and recommending for certain notes... He does drag on about the history at times but I like that every now and then... There is quite the difference from what he said... 3 is rye forward iirc

FaceTiming with my father who’s favorite night of our visits used to be steak and a blind wine tasting. I showed him my new blind tasting Glencairns and the wife poured while I was in the other room. The PHC (10 year heavy char) stood out in proof and depth of flavor. That one I was certain and also 90% on the EC12. The other two were a coin flip that went my way so 4/4 were the results tonight!
