I wandered into my local around 11:00 since they told me they’d have some WSR today. It was all gone by then, but I’m not rescheduling my day for WSR

I walked out with a MMCS. I’m not big on Makers, but I’ve heard nice things about the CS expression.

Eagle Rare 1.75L

First time I've ever seen the size here--- and I'm in Sazerac land. There was no price visible, so I asked for a scan. It Rang up as $45.99.

I'm not a huge fan of ER but that skyscraping novelty clown bottle got me. Now I have to figure out where to store this Burj Khalifa of bourbon.

I purchased an online curbside pickup from OF in Louisville this morning for 2 different single barrels (one barrel proof) that sound really good based on the tasting notes.   Looks like a trip to Kentucky is in the works for next Wednesday for pickup.    They sent out an 830am email, not sure how long it lasted, but wasn't long when a buddy tried to go and buy.

Today’s pick ups. KC pick was a no brainer as I think it’s one of my favorite juices under $60. The RR16 was just based on opportunity. Will be a great Thanksgiving treat with my Family.

Waiting for Dan Gardner to recover from covid so we can have a proper 4R evening, but the store released the pick early.  Prayers with Dan!

$12.07 (with $5 off coupon) and $8.99 respectively after 10% six bottle discount.  Safeway has become my honey hole lol.  EWB used to be my go to but I haven't had in a while.  I've been enjoying lower proof pours lately so I thought I'd revisit it.  And for $9, why not?...

I like EWB for an occasional change of pace.

EWB is on sale here in PA, so last week I bought my first bottle in well over 15 years. I enjoyed it so much the last few days that I threw it into a decanter for general house consumption. Had a bit more last night and figured I should add a bottle of 1783 too.

I've enjoyed enough EWBiB and EWSiB - plus multiple Elijah Craig products over the last few months - to recognize how consistently good the Heaven Hill house profile is.

Nice score on the WT101.  EWB 1.75L are $15.29 at Safeway after the 10% multi bottle discount.  Grabbed a couple awhile back, and have been pleasantly surprised with them.  Solid pour when it’s on the rocks, for my palate.......

I remember when COVID just started they had EWB on sale here for $8 shipped to my door. Can’t say no to that.

Had a $25 gift card from Target. Last time I was in there they had Ardbeg Ugadaul for $55, which is a great price. But alas, when I got there, no more. But they had a single bottle of KCSB with the old label, so I grabbed that. Opened it up, & initially was lotsa peanut. But after 20 minutes it became sweet with lotsa oak, so its a nice barrel. This will be empty way sooner than that Ardbeg would be.

I got to try this at 4R this week and as figured, I loved it, thus meaning I’d never see a bottle.... Luck was on my side, as I saw one in ATL the day after I returned.  Cherry Cola/Cherry Lifesavers up front with great spiciness mid-palate that lingers and peppers the tongue through the finish.  It could have been a bit too much, but the rich mouthfeel and heavy viscosity coats things to keep the spice more than enjoyable.  Balance.  Warm and such a wonderfully controlled oak, considering the age of some of the whiskies in this.   Seriously well blended.

I’ve never had anything other than the standard  4 roses stuff. Does their single barrel hit on another level? What would be a comparative product?

Are you asking about the standard 100 proof single barrel or the barrel proof private selection single barrels?

Mmmmm. That sounds fantastic, as I’m sure it is. Congrats on the score!

Picked up an OF Statesman. I think i recall sipping this at some event a few years ago, but don’t really remember anything about it. Being a big fan of the 1920, 1910, and SiB Old Foresters, though, I’m excited to try it! Probably report back on my thoughts in the “what are you drinking” thread later tonight.

I think it's pretty dang good.

I had won a Lottery in Idaho that allowed me to buy a bottle of Old Fitzgerald 9yr for $90, so I drove up to Pocatello today. I was hoping to get a few other bottles that are not offered here in SLC. They did have some Calumet Farm 12yr for $100, but I haven't had that before, and didn't know if it was worth the $$. Then I came across a couple of items on sale, MMCS for $45 and WTRB for $40, so I bought 3 bottles of each. I didn't notice until I got home that I actually got 1 bottle of MMCS 2019-2 and 2 of 2020-2, but it will be nice seeing how the batches differ.
