Home from work, and OF 100 in the glass.  I might have to see if I can find a couple more of these.

Okay here you go.  His name is Makana ( Hawaiian for gift or reward). We will call him Mack.

Working my way through the bunker. I finally broke down and opened BT Single Oak Project barrel no. 27. Right behind it is barrel no. 60.

I'm working on my second bottle of Benchmark Bonded.  I bought two when they were first available.  There's nothing wrong with it.  I may try the full proof.

I haven’t tried the new Benchmarks. It used to be my nephews favorite and I thought that was decent, given the price point. How do you like them?

At this point, I've only tried the bonded.  It's like a slightly younger Buffalo Trace at 100 proof.  I say the quality is on par with 4 year old bonds from the other legacy distillers.  It's rather simple, but no off notes.  It's better than Old Tub, which I found to still have some white dog taste.

I forget how good bt is until i have some about twice a year. I have yet to find a store pick until they are all gone but it is on my list.

Was in my local mega - bev today looking for some Abita Pecan ale.  No joy on the pecan ale but I did pick up a bottle of Woodinville bourbon as it was on sale.

me and my new drinking buddy like it.

Honestly, I’ve had a few SiB picks that were very nice, but I really think your range is capped here. IMO any honey barrel is gonna be earmarked for EHT, or GTS or even ER. So anything picked as a SiB BT I would think is a barrel already designated for the BT blend.

I’ll buy a store pick if I see one at the same price for variety, but I’ve yet to find a BTSiB so great it’s worth loading up on.

Keep hangin’ in there Sarge. Sooner or later it’ll happen. I’ve had a bunch of private selections over the years. I even had a hand in helping pick one. ;) Of the many I’ve had, the vast majority were average or just a tad over average. A couple were less than stellar, a few were very good, and two or three were outstanding. FWIW, I recently purchased a couple from a semi-local store whose manager normally picks some great barrels. To be honest, this one was just average. Ya’ just never know.

I thought that release from Buffalo Trace was way cool.  The research of it just spoke to the old scientist in me. The juice was good too.

Enjoy.

Cheers.

I must have imbibed a little too much. I thought that I had sent this, but maybe not!. Ha.

I am enjoying some older OFBIB, which really tastes a lot like today's double oaked WR.

If you can find a store pick cask strength Woodinville, grab it.  Those can be great!

I picked up a Wb pick from Costco. Was the first cask strength and thoroughly impressed. I’ll give you a plus 1 on this recommendation.

I’ll agree with the others.

You arn’t missing much.

There are a few different profiles that the BT barrels can lean towards, and if you find one in your wheelhouse it can be quite a treat.

Some barrels can be major duds though, and as a general statement, the normal shelf stock batched bottles are hard to beat.  BT has been my jam all summer long this year.

Unfortunately as of late, I hear of several stores just taking whatever barrel of BT they can get and not actually picking it.  I don’t enjoy purchasing store picks hoping to get lucky with a good one...  it rarely works in my favor.

I have no good explanation either as to why BT makes such a darn good manhattan ?
